I like WSF in most calibers for lead. In 9 I have a 130gr NOE and a 140gr Miha mold for shootin over WSF , my oal are shorter at 1.135 with 4.something gr of WSF( I don't have my books here), great accuracy, a little smokey. AA#5 is another one.
It is best to get bullets that are a true .3555 and even .356, I don't expand so it helps neck tension plus I don't even bell the mouth, I used my chanfer tool and made sure all cases had a small chamfer and with my Hornady seater I get the bullet to start straight, otherwise you can crush the...
I loaded several groups of 10 out of that batch the first time. They were indeed belled enough to begin with. They DID "spring" back a bit over the course of that month. AS I said the expander was STILL set-up from the first time .
I had sized and belled a bunch of my spp federal brass and never got to loading all of them,(was testing and between weather and work took a month) they did indeed "shrink", or I should say spring back in a bit. I ran them back into the expander(still set-up) and they came back out to where they...
It is odd that those "marks" are only spots. If it was tight I would think the marker would be rubbed off the entire circumfrence of the case. I have run into several bolt guns that needed the brass shimmed up .01" or some taken off the bottom of the die in order to bump the shoulder back. Some...
Spare parts needed?,those boxes of gold colored cylinders. My 10/22 keeps breaking them and sending the top half(mighty fast I might add) a long ways off. No matter how many I put in it they just keep breaking;)
1sow , I believe thats the same guy that always trash talks Berry's over on the firing line forum. I think only 1 bullet was tried and didn't shoot good so ''They are junk" for life.:banghead:
I haven't seen a 9mm barrel yet that measures .355(I'm sure some match ones are), most are .356, so...
He isn't looking for an all out load. I don't see why it pays adding 2 or 3 grains more powder per round just to get an extra 100fps when you can use way less powder, and the type that more of it burns. If he was looking for the max speed, he would have said so. And then the slowest powder...
I know a person used to be able to get 30-06"accelerator" rounds the had a smaller dia bullet in a sabot. They were made for higher velocity, but I'd bet something on that order could be done(if components are found)with a lower charge. A nice .22 or.25 cal bullet in a sabot over Trail boss or...
I'd agree to trying and see how they go,no harm in it.I would look for lead strips on the leading(as in forward)edge of rifling. It will tell you if the bullets are sealing ok or are slightly skiding and stripping lead off. Shoot 20 or so.
As stated you will get a fire show with power Pistol .:)
Longshot is usually the king of velocity and generally great accuracy. I tried it and was always impressed with it, but got tired of the recoil. It made me hate to shoot the .40, so I quit using it for more sane powders. I know I took some Double Tap rounds apart and the powder inside was...
Your cheap micrometer should work as long as it is zeroed. I know a mic is pricey and not needed for a lot of reloading things, so value wise there are better things to use limited money on. Otherwise if you push two slugs through your barrel and mail them to me I'd be happy to measure them for...
Never, ever, ever, never rely on calipers for a reliable measuremnt! PERIOD
I am a machinist of 21yrs and will not even bother using my top of the line calipers to do this. They are way,way too easily off by a couple thou, which is enough to be just a guess.
When doing calculations in Quickload, they give powder burn ratios. The faster powder has more burnt BEFORE leaving the barrel ,whereas slower powders need a longer barrel to get the same % of burnt ratio.Thats where that fireball comes from. While yes, the same powders (usually slower)that...
