Looks like Henry is seeing just how close they can come to marketing a Saturday Night Special and getting by with it. No different than any other modern day Henry.
Have used both #4 buck and 00 buck on whitetail deer. Wouldn't hesitate to use either after I've seen the results.
Presently have the 870 loaded with #4 buck.
Maybe a Ruger Hawkeye All-weather from CDNN Investments in 7-08 at $499.
I picked up a 308 while they were still in stock. Feels good but have not fired it.
Some Mod 50 had three holes drilled and tapped in the rear receiver ring. I have seen many. There are two lengths of base for the rear on those. I researched it and finally figured what I needed. I went with the steel bases and rings from Talley. I think I have the info written down somewhere...
I had a rifle like the Winchester, was an Antique Model but was made in 1967.
Case hardened receiver, brass saddle ring...
I would pick it over the shotgun.

It's obvious that you aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer. Leave a firearm in an open trunk for any thug to help himself to..... makes no difference if it was an accident or not.
And now have the audacity to bitch about the cops calling you out?
Get outa here..
I have a Model B S&W badged Husqvarna in .308. Imported in the 68-70 time frame and not to be confused with any re-worked mauser or later imported S&W labled Howa that were imported a couple of years later. You got a good'un. I would love to see a pic.

I know you said CQC rifle. That being said, I have vision problems as well. I would trust nothing but my shotgun for CQC. I do have a black rifle there next to the SG. I can use the open sights about as well as any if required, but the SG would be shouldered first.

The Rem 700 .243 is a short action. The 257 Roberts is based on the 7x57 Mauser case which is a long action round if I'm not confused.
Midway has the barrels for the Savage in 257 Roberts, just find a Stevens or Savage long action for the action. Piece of cake to change.
