Can someone tell me all the different chamberings the Marlin 336 has been offered in over the years?
Apart from the current offerings I know; 38-55, .219 zipper, 32 Win Spl . . .
what makes a "shotgun scope" a shotgun scope. I've noticed that numerous manufacturers list a shotgun scope? any reason why not to use one on a big bore levergun rifle like 444 or 45-70?
because it's fun! see the article in last months American Hunter about squirrel hunting with a .36 cal blackpowder rifle. also watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHx74_nbZc0
Our piggies got mixed with pork fat and turned into bratwurst and breakfast sausage. Our group wound up with 5 javelinas in all and only one of them stank once the hide was off. The fat on the largest piggy, a big old boar, smelled similar to the hides. None of the other four (medium-sized to...
thanks RC,
no I wasn't planning on using any of the data, I was just curious. I wonder if anyone ever compiled a list, edition by edition, of what cartridges dissapear and appear in the manuals. It would be interesting to see.
the local library had a used book sale and i picked up a Lyman 42nd Edition Reloader's Handbook (c.1960) for 50 cents. fascinates me to see what cartridges are present as opposed to my newer 48th edition (c. 2002)--stuff like .32-40, 25-35, 35 Win, various Mannlicher, various "Jap" cartridges...
A friend brought me javelina hunting for my first time ever here in southeastern Arizona. The first day I walked right up on a piggy not 20 yards away from me while still-hunting a mesquite thicket, but we caught sight of each other at the same time, and he scurried away over a hill with a tree...
just curious, does the 20 years for new patents apply to new cartridges as well? say for example in 1925(?) Winchester releases the .270 Winchester, did Federal and Remington have to wait 20 years to offer their own .270 Winchester factory loads? Or do firearm/ammunition manufacturers wave...
WOW DWfan, way to derail the thread.
so leverguns are for people who need more than one shot? well then why don't the rest of dopes just hunt with AR-10s with 30 round mags, why a levergun? could be some people just plain like leverguns because they just plain like them. in the same way...
then is there any way for other manufacturers around those patents so that they could produce their own "flex-tip" type ammunition for use in lever-guns?
Does anyone know if Hornady's LEVERevolution ammo is still under patent protection? I'm just wondering if when the patents expire will all the major manufacturers start marketing their own flex tip bullet type ammo for leverguns?
Hello,
I'm new to reloading and to handgun hunting. In the myriad of .44 bullets available, 180gr to 300, what's a good bullet/weight for deer hunting with a revolver in .44 mag?
Thanks
