I really like the sights on it too. I had planned on putting a low powered scope on mine, but the iron sights on it are my favorite of all my rifles. I don't want to feel like I'm wasting them. Hmmm, maybe that's justification to buy another one in .223 :)
Being confident that I have an Armalite upper, I decided to poke around on their website concerning the .223/5.56 debate. The site was down for a few days and when it came back up, I found this:

So, for this rifle I feel comfortable...
I interpreted this differently than most of you. To me it says "Hey Mr./Ms. Notashooter, you know that gun you've got laying around that you never shoot, clean or even look at and have improperly stored? Why don't you give it to us and get your kid a new pair of hightops, before it winds up in...
That's kinda funny that you have to wait out the "cool down" period for a gun you won in a shoot. Well, not funny for you.
I bought my step father at P22. I can't shoot it that well, but he can. It's never malfunctioned that I've seen.
I have it that way for aerodynamics. Just kidding of course. Thanks for pointing that out.
Thanks for the info. Does your Armalite have a rubber coating around the barrel? Also, does it say .223 and 5.56?
It was $1295 with the NIB EOTech. The EOTech is the AA model with night vision capabilities. I don't need the night vision, but it was already on the gun. They wanted $950 for just the rifle. I don't think I got that great of a deal, but it was an impulse buy.
Kennedy, The JP trigger is sweet. The whole point of me getting a new AR was to get into action rifle and maybe three-gun. I was a little worried that it might be too light and I'd have to replace it with a spare Bushy two stage trigger I have. After my range trip earlier today, I think it's...
Unfortunately no. It has this rubber coating on barrel. I thought I mentioned that earlier, but after re-reading see that I didn't. I saw the exact same rubber coating and muzzle brake on two Armalites at the show today. I think Andrew was dead on with his identificaiton.
It's not a...
I thought about that, but as big as the tube is it still won't fit over the gas block. I went to a gun show today and did some comparing. I'm now 90% confident this is an Armalite upper. The similar Armalites I saw were labelled .223. For now I'll just shoot .223.
I can't really tell...
So about a week ago, I decided that I need some tacticality and walked into a local gun shop looking for a stripped AR receiver. I wanted to build a flat top AR with an ACE stock, railed gas block, lightweight bbl, muzzle brake, rubber grip and attach an EOTech with flip-down backup sights. I...
