Nothing more annoying at the indoor ranges than a short barrel AR in .223 or .300blk. When the cool guys come in to start rapid firing at 5 yards with 18" groups I have to step back from the line. I am just waiting on a company to do a 1 7/8" short barrel AR in .223 or .300blk for a more...
The CZ 557 is a great rifle as well as the now discontinued CZ 550. I have the CZ 550 American and the Manners 557...the CZ's can be hefty in the weight department if that matters to you but they are great rifles.
Sako and Tikka both make 6.5x55 and I think they now offer 6.5CM as well...
The 127gr LRX is moving great for a 22" bbl and below max charge. I am not sure how sensitive the 6.5 creed will be to changes but I know that my 6.5x55 shoots all factory ammo really crappy but every handload has great accuracy. Both cartridges are great but I will give the nod to cheaper...
Out of my CZ 550 with ~23.6" barrel, I have gotten the following with no pressure signs and a very tight std dev. These loads were safe in my rifle and I would not suggest them in anyone else's rifle.
140gr Sierra (48.2gr) avg 2783fps std dev 6.5fps
130gr Barnes TTSX (50.5gr) avg 3095fps std...
Both are great cartridges and I have both. I get much more velocity and performance out of a 6.5x55 then the 6.5 creed but I also reload. Bottom line, If you reload get the 6.5x55. Also, pay attention to the twist rates on the 6.5x55. The 6.5 creed comes with the 1:8 in all factory...
I have 2 8-32x56's S3's. Sightron makes an excellent scope with great glass at least on the S3 series that I have on my rifles. I bought my 2 sight unseen online and never regretted the purchase one bit. The scopes track perfectly even when moving many clicks and always returns to zero.
The savage 12 LRP in 6.5 creed is an awesome shooter. I have tried 120, 140, 143, and 147 factory hornady ammo and all have shot less than .75 MOA if I do my part. I cannot wait to try some handloads on this rifle. In my experience, most handloads for my rifles always result in a significant...
It does not matter how high quality of a scope you have when it comes to condensation on the outside of the lenses. If the dew point is high enough, it might not ever acclimate to the outside air (especially if you are in the shade). However, no quality scope should ever form condensation on...
Go with American Security (AMSCE) BF series or Sturdy safes. These safes (RSC) are both competitively priced and are much better than big box RSC's. I like Sturdy for their thick steel construction but the AMSEC for their fire protection and nicer interiors.
I always bore sight the rifle on the bench with bags to the target at 100 yards. Then fire one shot and see the impact. I use 1" block targets and see how many inches the shot was off and adjust the windage and elevation to the correct clicks for the zero. I try different handloads and...
I have both the Leupold VX3 6.5-20x50 and two sightron siii 8-32x56 scopes. They both have good glass and are great scopes. However, I like the sightron moa-2 reticle better than the varmint hunters and the tracking on the sightron is dead on and the marked turrets are a nice touch. You can't...
Check out the savage lady hunter in .243. The stock is Lady specific and is definitely a different stock designed especially for women. My wife has one in .243 and .30-06 and loves both rifles. They truly are made for women in balance and stock fit. I bought my wife's first one via special...
