Since he is SO fond of using 'law' to (try to) make his case, give him this one:
Public Law 109–92
109th Congress
An Act
To prohibit civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers,
distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages...
Carbines can be tough, due to the number of manufacturers, sub-contractors, and the commercial builders. Parts were also upgraded throughout its service time.
Most major USGI parts will have manuf. code on them, especially of course the prime contractor which should be listed on the...
"It is a principle that the right to a thing gives a right to the means without which it could not be used, that is to say, that the means follow their end." --Thomas Jefferson
"The right to use a thing comprehends a right to the means necessary to its use, and without which it would be...
My S&W is the best 1911 I ever had. It has always been 100% reliable (not so the Colts or Kimber). Accuracy is fine, as is the build quality.
I do think a DW commander would be nice because of the bobbed grip, but the same size SW is always on my list too.
I think you would be OK with Blazers, Remington, Speer GDs, SilverTips, or Lawmans. I have shot all these (other then the Lawmans) in my Tomcat and they function fine. Noticable less recoil/blast then the Corbons.
The Cougars are a decent piece. Triggers feel the same as the 92F, which is really my only down point on them...these days a DAK or LEM or QA just give better triggers.
Anyway, I had a .40 way back when, and a 9mm more recently. I was quite surprised to have 1 malfunction with the 9 - no...
I have not shot the BB, nor would I. I have shot the Corbon and the difference in recoil and blast is very noticable over standard rounds.
Not worth it in my opinion, as FMJ in this round is as likely to be just/more effective then hi-vel HP.
Side note, the Tomcat (Inox) has been 100%...
I think the SIG P238 would make a good pocket .380., but like most PPKs/SIG P232 etc they aren't really much smaller then say a 9mm P99c. Thinner yes, but overall? Not much diff.
Now I see these tiny superlight .380s like the Ruger LCP and I wonder how they are to shoot. My PPK/S wasn't bad...
Full-size duty (metal) - tough to beat Beretta or SIG, though a DOA style trigger like on the newer DAK SIGS would be a real plus.
Pocket - pick the full-size, then get one that matches best in functionality (i.e. Beretta 92F with Walther PPK/s; Hi-power w/SIG P238)
Yeah - I know! BUT - any reason to buy another gun is a good reason! :)
Sometimes I just go into the store HAVING to buy something - one of those times it was the new 92F - which was on the list!
My 1st ever pistol - I carried one as a duty gun for years - 100% reliable over thousands and thousands of rounds. Not one problem. A large piece no doubt, but one that just got better and smoother with age. After lending it out to my Pop for a while, I eventually traded it towards a more...
P99C in 9mm.
Better feel then the PPS, better price then the HK, roughly the same size as the PPS & even the PPK/s (a bit wider of course). Ultra reliable, very shootable. Good capacity. Both style mags are comfortable enough (pinky extension or pinky tucked under) and better then the HK. 9mm.
I bought a used but visibly as-new condition Beretta Tomcat. Quite a different little beast. Overall, I like this piece, but it has not been easy going. Here is why…
1) Grips. Because it was used, I wanted to take the grips off during my 1st cleaning and make sure everything was nice and...
Enjoy. I loved my Interarms PPK/s...used as a BUG for my duty 92F and for CCW. Never had a single problem with it. Sort of wish I still had it, but I have a P99c that's the same size (and why I went for even smaller this time).
I got the Tomcat - so far so good...a quick 15 rounds last...
