I personally would go with the 10/22 and a 3x9 1" scope. With the leaves on the trees it will be more difficult to pick out your target with peep sights. I have Tech Sights as well and they are fantastic.

I personally am not a fan of tube mounted slings. The tube was not intended to carry the weight of the rifle or the stress when slung up in position. I would add a stud to the front of the forearm. Just my $.02.

Congratulations on the 60. They are great rifles. I have tuned mine up and am getting 2" to 2 1/2" at 100 yards off a front bag. There are alot of small tricks to help increae the accuracy that don't cost a thing.

My question is what would happen if you came across a terminally wounded deer out of season or when your tagged was filled. Is there any way to put the animal down without getting in trouble with the Game Warden?

It sounds like you are talking about eye relief, the distance between your eye and the scope. Sight through the scope and move your eye closer and farther away, you should hit a sweet spot. You may need to move your scope forward in the rings.
