1. They are minute of goblin. Plenty fine for field work.
2. They are technically chambered for 7.62x51 NATO but will also handle 308 without issue.
3. They are NOT reworked 303 caliber rifles as some error-net commandos seem to think. They are post war rifles made from moderns steel...
I find myself in need of a fair to middling supply of 303 British ammunition.
I'd like to buy some of the South African surplus NC that came in a few years ago. If anyone has any for sale or knows where I might find several thousand rounds, I'd appreciate the information.
Thanks.
Perhaps academically amusing, but not very many people can make use of the PRACTICAL difference between the two calibers from FIELD positions.
The only PRACTICAL advantage of the 06 is the ability to use 220 grain bullets. Not much need for that, but if you do need it that might be a...
For a short period of time in the early '50s, FN used a ~60 degree arc safety which had the wing on the left side of the bolt (vs the right side for the Buehler types).
I am having a couple of rifles built and want to use this safety.
I know that most custom builds remove these for a...
Another Thumbs Up for Randy Cain.
I've taken several Handgun 101 (shooting is about the basics. When I lived proximate to Lakeland, I took one whenever my schedule allowed), an advanced handgun and a carbine class from him at Southern Exposure in Lakeland FL. OUTSTANDING in every way...
As the man said, "Too damn much."
Another man asked "What's it for"? Why, to sell, of course. It's a currency exchange device designed to exchange currency from you to the seller.
Unless you shoot 1000 yard matches, you don't need a magnum. You certainly don't need one for hunging in...
The game will never know the diff btw the two calibers.
I'd move up to a 9.3x62, 338/06, or 35 Whelen. Or 338 Win Mag if you like belts and unnecessarry blast and recoil. All will fit in a standard length action. The first three can be made from '06 brass.
Or, I'd move down to .223.
16" Bushmaster Dissipator, bbl turned down to light wt configuration. Carry strap. GGG M3 white light mount. A1 handle. Iron sights. About as simple and light as can be had. The extra sight radius makes a big diff to my mid-40's eyes.
Although I don't recall the specifics, this was settled by the courts way back in the 1970's. The government has no duty to protect you.
That's OK with me, I'd rather do it myself. I just wish they'd admit it.
I have no idea who Mr. Barrett is as this came from a friend's BLOG, but it appears pretty spot on.

It's a digital pattern, but not strictly speaking MARPAT. If you look thru the pics you'll see that it appears pretty effective.
I don't see an application in the game field. Hunters should brag about how CLOSE they got for the shot, not how far away. I limit my shots on unwounded game to ~250 yards, and that's long for me. YMMV.
I think that type reticle has application for sniping.
