    Best movies for gun enthusiasts

A lot of good ones mentioned so far. One of those is Tremors. Actually showcased the local gun-nut in a positive light. Especially when he took out one of those things with his elephant gun. :D Another would be Miller's Crossing, but I'm a big Coen Bros fan anyway. One not mentioned so...

    Glock 23 Holster Advice

For your stated carry, IMO, you can't beat the Fobus paddle holster. Light, inexpensive, quick to put on, secure and very comfortable. I don't carry mine for "walks in the woods", but the Fobus is my favorite range holster. When wearing it, I often forget I'm carrying. That is until my arm...

James Madison clears up the 2A

The guy in the video nailed it. Thanks for the laugh (and cry). Will pass this on.

USAF Shoulder Holster Specification for Pilots

This may be antique advice, but my FIL was a flight engineer on C-141's for years and the cockpit crews were issued a sort of elastic belly band holsters. My understanding was that when they got ready to take off an order was opened to reveal which member would get the .38 for the flight. Kind...

Recommend a gun belt under $40

I've never really owned a "gun belt", but recently, while at a Red Wing shoe store they had some really nice leather belts for sale. Most were black cowhide, in varying widths and were $42. Well made with a decent buckle so I bought one. The clip on my IWB Tagua holster grips it nice and snug.

    Glock 20 for grizzlies?

Agsalaska, I personally do not carry a firearm to look like a tough guy. It is for emergency defense against humans or critters that intend to do me or mine bodily harm. One reason I elect not to open carry even though it is legal and I have a CCW permit. If I lived in Alaskan bear country...

    Glock 20 for grizzlies?

torchroadster, That was it. Thanks. I find it silly that the guy even had to go to court. Seems that could have been avoided with the say-so of the park rangers. Agsalaska, Note that my last post included: Actually got to see a griz last year in Yellowstone. It was a truly...

    Glock 20 for grizzlies?

An old thread, but thought I'd throw this into the equation. Read this year of a grizzly attack in Montana. (Sorry, can't find the link now) Story went like this....Solo hiker saw a pair of hikers being stalked by a grizzly. He shouts to warn them. Shouting brings the bear off the others...

Pointers for a new Lyman shell tumbler owner

Finally got a proper case tumbler. A Lyman Pro 1200 followed me home the other day. :D The media I'm using is crushed corn cob with a tad bit of car polish. Corn cob is what I've been using with my redneck tumble method to date: (Large plastic pickle jar, encased in homemade, padded, coat...

The Lee Pro1000 VS. The Lee Loadmaster

OAL irregularities....Maybe this will help others with Lee presses. Got my feet wet with reloading two years ago with a Lee Loadmaster. Experienced OAL variances. Did a lot of research online. One suggestion that worked also allowed discovery of another culprit. The suggested fix from...

    Heirloom Gun Stories

Cool stories. Hope this thread gets many more. My heirloom story... Old "Bridge" 12g. Was my grandfather's gun. I heard he got it in/around the time of WW1 when he was young. His best friend (fellow farmer/ co-conspirator in the white whiskey business partner/brother in law) and he would...

Growing Public Support for Gun Rights

I can remember when 95% of the news was funneled to America through the "Big Three", PBS, the local papers and periodical news mags. Essentially, most news was funneled through a leftist/anti 2nd filter. Those vents are now dying in the shade of the internet. My news sources went from Dan...

    What the beef with plastic?

A page or two back someone said that polymer guns are ugly compared to the "firearms of yesteryear". I disagree. A Glock (what I own) reminds me of a Pit Bull. Some would call those dogs ugly. I don't. I think a Pit is beautiful. Especially after living with one. Built strong, a great...

    What the beef with plastic?

Agreed. My Dewalt cordless drill, the Buick I drive and the Glock I carry are cost effective machines that I push to do a job. All are have a proven dependability that I use for certain jobs....and all are a mix of metals and plastic. As far as polymer guns holding up with time... Ran...

Texas Considers allowing open carry of handguns-news report

Does this mean that Texas is going all "Wild West" on us? Can already see the NYT headlines. :D Hope so. As a native Texan I cannot believe how stringent their gun laws are compared to the "Mild East" where I live in Alabama. ....about time. Good luck (and hit the phones).

Glock 19. My first Glock. My first impressions

The only few malfunctions I've seen in my G27, G23 was when I first handed them to my wife and daughter. The ammo was also WWB. My daughter had two malfunctions on the first shots. She was scared to shoot anything more powerful than the .22. Told her to get a firm grip on it. She did and has...

    Lehigh Defense Xtreme 380

I guess the proof will eventually be in the pudding. Actually, after seeing the saboted slug in the one video I'd like to see the results after some eventually use these on deer and hogs. Post-mortems compared with other normal saboted pistol rounds used in those situations. A hog's shoulder...
