    Remington conversion cylinder

I have two that I have converted, used the R&B cylinders, have to remove the cylinder to load and unload but that's ok with me. Both of mine are .44's and now converted to .45 cartridge and I love them both. I heard of some having problems with the cylinders fitting and the timing, both of...

    New [to me] .44

I have two of these, both in blue and both now with the conversion cylinders, and they are a dream to shoot. I picked the remolvers up on an auction site and didn't pay much over $100 for each of them and figured it was well worth sticking the conversion cylinders in them. I then turned around...

    Old family photo civil war

You have a rather cute great grandmother there if you don't mind me saying so. You just have to love that hair style. Old pictures of our ancestors, when we are lucky enough to have them, are very special. It's great to get to see what they looked like when they were young. You are fortunate...

1851 Cylinder Does NOT Rotate to Lock Position

By the way, if it were me I would just spring for a new hand. There are some venders on the net that have replacement parts for the different manufacturers out there, VTI is one that has them. They show the hand at $8 plus the shipping, not a bad price even if it doesn't solve the problem but...

1851 Cylinder Does NOT Rotate to Lock Position

I have a repro Remington that the sear when engaged holds the hammer back slightly less than it should, hammer is in the way of the topstrap cut sight groove, but in cocking the hammer comes back far enough to lock the cylinder correctly just then moves forward a little too far, which means my...

How far will a Sharps Shoot?

I have actually shot distance at well over a mile with my Italian Sharps in 45-70, what I didn't know was how fast the slug was going when it hit and what the angel was at the time of impact. What was interesting to me was the fact that even at that distance shooting at a clump of rock the...

    Got a Quigley this morning.

Read Mike's article, neat read, I'd heard some of that info before. I wish I had the budget to purchase a rifle from those folks, but my income doesn't run that high, maybe some day I'll manage it and until then I'll just keep dreaming and shooting my old Remington rolling block.

What's the deal with overpaying on Gunbroker?

I purchased 3 revolvers, 1858 Remington reproductions over the past six months, two came from GB. I just found what I wanted at an opening bid price lower than I was willing to pay, then bid what I was willing and waited, if I won great, if not then I went to the next one I had on my watch...

    Got a Quigley this morning.

I had a .45-70 Sharps, can't remember the maker now, but it was an Italian repro, cheaper than yours for sure. I mounted a Lyman globe front sight that came with several inserts, and then a venier tang sight. My loads were a slug from a Lee mold, can't remember the weight now, sorry but it's...

bruised shoulder and im alive and learned a lesson.

Those barrels are made strong, good and strong due to the idiots that might wind up using them, no not you guys, come on you know the ones I mean, anyway they will stand up to a great deal, I think you could almost tripple load one and it would hold up, not that I want to try it. It's the...

    Mini slug sizer

Picked up one of DGW mini sizing dies that you mount in a vice or it will work in a bord with a hole drilled in two sizes, anyway it's a simple thing you just take a lubed mini and drive it through this die and it sizes it uniform, but my problem is that I am messing up the skirts on the slugs...

    Zouave Nipple Threads

Anybody know what the threads are for the Antonio Zoli Zouave rifle? I need a new musket nipple and want to make sure I order the one with the right threads, any help will be gratefully appreciated.

New to black powder pistols, which one to buy

Ooh, gun porn, I am addicted to the stuff, but I never post any, actually don't have any to post. I have owned both a Remington and a Colt repro and both were great. The Remington did have more problem with fouling but was a lot easier to remove the cylinder for what ever reason than the Colt...

    Broke in my SP101

I have one with the 3" barrel but it's chambered for the .32 H&R Mag. Sweet gun and fun round, I can put .32 S&W Longs and Shorts through it as well, not as accurate, but sure are fun, especially those light little shorts.

    Where to buy?

That one at Cabelas isn't a bad deal. You can find some for a little less money on the auction sites and I've gotten three of them that way and all were in excellent conditon, a little finish wear but in perfect working order. I paid an avarage of $160 plus shipping, which ran about $20, so...

Prould owner of a brand new Ruger GP100

I have the SP 101 in .32 H&R magnum, never fired the GP 100 but I really love this 101 and the .32 mag. round, it shoots the .32 S&W long well too and it's very mild for those lazy afternoons when you just want to have some plinking fun. Ruger still makes some fine firearms.

How do you clean a single shot?

You might want to check at any automotive or hardware store and get some of that clear plastic tubing, well any color will work it's just that the clear is a little stiffer than most of the black rubber tubing, anyway get the size that will just squeeze fit down over the nipple, stick the other...

    Best laid plans

Gatofeo, I'm in the North Eastern part of Utah, and it's about the same here. As long as I stay on the well traveled oil field roads I'm ok, but if we pull off the beaten track then it's stuckville, same lake bed. Right now there's too much snow, soon there will be too much mud, then will come...

    Shipping a C& B 'Conversion' Revolver

mykeal, I'm sorry I can't give you the source. I read it in some article dealing with this issue. I wish I could remember where I read it. It didn't matter to me at the time because I wasn't interested in the loading gate style of conversion.

    Shipping a C& B 'Conversion' Revolver

It really depends on the conversion that was installed on the gun. If the gun has been modified from it's original configuration, as in the frame being modified, then no, but if the original cylinder was removed and a conversion cylinder installed without modifying the original frame then yes...
