    Too rare for the range?

I think the problem will soon solve itself. I have a buyer wanting to pay me enough to buy what I have always lusted after. a Browning Superposed with a 3 barrel set. Not nearly as rare, but still an oddity in this day and age, besides it is less prone to breaking and much easier to get repaired.

    Too rare for the range?

This is true, but revolvers go out of time. Also while recoil springs wear down after a few thousand rounds I have no idea how many rounds were put through it before I bought it. It was obviously used before it came into my possession. There is no information on the spring rates. My only...

    Too rare for the range?

I kinda talked about this in the overpaying thread, but I wondered if anyone else has been in my boat. Basically speaking has anyone here owned a piece that they are too afraid to shoot due its rarity or value? I got lucky and stumbled upon a mateba unica 6 back in january. It is an...

Would you overpay for a rare weapon?

Eh, probably. Case in point, I bought a Mateba Unica 6 about a year ago it seems. 44 mag, matte nickle finish, 6 inch with compensator. I believe it is a hunting model. I bought it because I had the funds and never in 100 years expected to run across one. Even the salesman was surprised I knew...

Anything really new in firearms since 1950?

Done on the Mateba Unica 6 along with being an auto revolver. I would say the MTR8 is more interesting than that though. It still shoots from the 12 oclock, but since he put the cylinder in front of the trigger instead of ontop he lowered the bore axis all the same. It also used a kind of...

GB doesn't show completed auctions any more?

Switch to the old view, they have a button on every search page to do so. Then just do it the old fashioned way.

    Rolled Reciever?

I am posting this on the behalf of my father. He has an old JC Higgins shotgun from the 50's I believe. Back in the 70's it broke and the gun smith told him he rolled the reciever. The gun is still sitting intact at my grandfather's and now my father is wanting to know if it can be repaired? I...

    Mateba

I cannot say I am a fan of the coonan. It does not appear to have the fit and finish. Besides, if I want a semi auto handcanon I would rather have a desert eagle. I was originally debating getting one in 357, but will probably hold off. Even with reloading, jacketed and plated ammunition are...

    Mateba

Well some bad news. If you check the pictures there is a nut on one side and a hardware screw on the other side just above the cylinder release. From the parts diagram and viausally checking it holds part of the trigger mechanism in place. My best guess the c-clip holding it in fell out at some...

    Mateba

The character that carries the Mateba is Togusa. He uses a 2600m in the movies and a Unica 6 in SAC. Honestly speaking though I never noticed what he carried until after I decided I wanted it. After going back to re-watch SAC it is obvious there was a gun fan on the team.

    Mateba

He knew I wanted it and he was not concerned about selling it. What is interesting is that he was going to take it to the indy gun show this weekend, but believed it would sell at the kentucky next week. He revealed that after I bought it. In the end I figure the gun is missing a few things...

    Revolver to reload for

If one came up for sale locally I might be able to spring for it, but even then 600 is a stretch for a supermag. I ruled out the 375 and 414 altogether due to rarity and cost. Then you have to factor in the ported barrels are worthless to me and it would be blind luck to stumble across one in...

    Revolver to reload for

I was looking for opinions and info. From where I sit the 454 makes more sense then a gun designed only for 45 lc simply because I can shoot both. I did not know that 454 is a bit too much for lead though and that is something to consider. Someone also might have a better gun to suggest. What I...

    Revolver to reload for

So I have about 600 give or take in my gun budget after buying my mateba. I am taking a reloading class in two weeks and I want to pick up a second gun. My mateba is 44 mag and I would like a different caliber to keep things different. My reloading budget more then covers the cost of...

Who says you can't buy sunshine? 686 no dash

I had a 586 no dash with a 6" barrel. Very very nice gun, you might want to see if it has had the update done on it. There is something about the no dash that can allow the cylinder to lockup under certain conditions.

    Mateba

I am tempted, but I have heard mixed reports about them. I will probably look at getting another 586/686 or Dan Wesson.

    Mateba

Well since you asked. I sold off all my toys awhile back. i decided I would get back in and reload this time. I am even signed up for a reloading class later this month. I had an 1800 budget for guns, 800 for the reloading equip and components, and then 400 for a safe. I will end up adjusting...

    Mateba

Screw it, I bought it. 6 inch barrel + compensator its stainless so I can use a scothbright pad to remove the scratches paid 1284 after taxes and end up getting a free soft case for it.

    Mateba

I walked into one of the local gun stores today and first thing I see is a brushed stainless (bead blasted finish?) mateba unica 6 in 44 magnum. No box or papers. Just the gun. Shop is asking 1295, but said they would take 1200 cash + tax. the gun itself looks to be used but not abused. the...

cz75 vs baby eagle 9 vs ar 24 helppp

I had a baby eagle (beagle?) in 9mm. It was a tank. Very heavy, a hoot to shoot. It was accurate and reliable. I liked the ergonomics and it ate anything it was given. Never gave me any trouble. I ended up selling it because of two reasons. One is that as an sd weapon my other half would...
