I have a 38 yr old remington 1100 gloss birch stock with one bad place near the bottstock that purtrudes and drives me crazy. Any advice on what to re-finish this stock with after I try to sand down this "hump" ? Its high gloss would I best to leave alone? Thanks...

Reply to postings Thank you all for your time. I guess my main reason would be to have a more accurate rifle. True, I dont shoot over 500 yards, and im not really sure if I would benefit from the fluted heavy barrel. Im not even sure of the weight difference. I guess i need to do more homework...
