Walther P99, Do You Like It?

i don't own one, but i've shot one several times. i like the ergonomics, the reliability, the accuracy, the looks, and the magazine release, but i don't particularly care for the trigger. i wouldn't turn one down if it were a gift ;)

    Sigs and rail grease

i need to shoot a P220 again, because i shot about a hundred rounds through my friends HK45, and it was brilliant.

    Sigs and rail grease

i doubt i'll ever put more than a few hundred rounds down target at any given session, and i'm not opposed to using an appropriate amount of grease on the rails.

    Sigs and rail grease

they should probably mention that in their maintenance instruction videos then, dontcha think? instead, they show the regular light lubrication regimen that every other pistol design i know of requires.

    Sigs and rail grease

i have no problem with use a little grease, it's the statements on the Sig forum about filling the rails with copious amounts of grease or expect the gun to break down after a few thousand rounds that i was concerned about. the comments here suggest that it's exactly what i thought it was...

    Sigs and rail grease

because i find the idea of a modern combat designed handgun failing if it's not filled with grease to be distasteful. dripping with lubrication is a bad idea for a number of reasons.

    Sigs and rail grease

thanks guys, this info makes a lot of sense. i think there is a lot of great info at Sig Forum too, but it seems to have a little bit of a hysterical edge, regarding some topics. i'm going to get to shoot a buddy's new HK45 on Tuesday, if i don't like it better than the p220 (and i'd have to...

    Sigs and rail grease

i was referring to the posts on Sig Forum, not yours, Mr Rogers, but thanks for the clarification. the amount of grease you're talking about doesn't seem unreasonable. i think the hyperbole is just a symptom of the usual internet stuff. there are people talking about slathering on grease.

    Sigs and rail grease

sure, all semi-autos need lubrication, but the kind of comments i've been reading have suggested a lot more than what other pistols seem to need. i'm uncomfortable with the idea of applying a lot of sticky grease to the inside of a handgun.

    Sigs and rail grease

glad to hear, CLP is what i've always used on other guns.

    Sigs and rail grease

the Sigs would be my most expensive gun purchases too (i've had Glocks and Berettas in the past), and i'd love to keep them running at their peak and performing for a reasonable lifespan. a lot of the talk there kinda smacks of hobby obsession, as i don't think Sig would have stayed in business...

    Sigs and rail grease

i just watched the maintenance videos on the sig arms website, and the lubrication regimen described is the same way i've always lubed pistols, so i imagine i'll be ok with the Sigs. not once were calipers brought out. :)

    Sigs and rail grease

that's good to hear, because i really do like the way the Sigs feel in my hand and shoot, i'm just not willing to buy guns that i'm going to have to worry unduly about.

    Sigs and rail grease

sorry if this topic has been beaten to death. i'm planning on getting a Sig P220 this month, and a P229 some time later down the road. i've shot both several times, and i like the way they shoot. however, i'm worried about commentary on the Sig Forum about the rails having a tendency to wear...

    Steyr M40 vs. Sig P229?

the M40 is looking more and more like a great deal at $300, especially since the 12 round magazines are so inexpensive. there is a gunshow in my area in a couple weeks. i think i'll go and see if i can handle the steyr before i make my decision. the low bore axis and light weight certainly...

    Steyr M40 vs. Sig P229?

as some of you know, i was planning on getting a police trade in Sig P229 .40 S&W from CDNN in a couple weeks. as i was looking through the catalog again, i saw taht the M40's are going for $300 new. i have heard good things about the Steyr, but i've never fired or even held one. i like the...
