I'm starting from scratch; the receiver I am putting this on had an A2 stock, so either way, I need a carbine buffer tube.
As for the sling, the RRA stock has a slot for a sling, but I honestly don't use a sling anyway. I don't do a lot of "running and gunning." And if I do, the sling mounts...
All - Closing this out with what I decided.
I went with the Commercial version. That will put me at $140 delivered; RRA is offering free shipping this month, and they don't tax for my state. My reasons:
1) Consistency: My other AR has the same stock on a Comm tube, so this way, on the...
Pretty sure that is not correct, from what I have read and heard. And I just called RRA and gave them my S/Ns, and they said my receivers can use either tube.
I know there are minor differences in the two thread structures, but I do not want to get into that. Remember, my question is strictly...
I need a common sense answer to this question, so I come to THR. I don't want to get too much into the weeds with tensile strength, type of aluminum alloy, etc.
I'm going to get a RRA Operator stock for my AR. I have one on my other AR and really like it.
RRA gives two options (they only sell...
drobs - Thinking about getting a suppressor, just for fun. (No definite decision yet.) Since I have both a G19 Gen 3 and G19 Gen 5, I thought it might be cost-effective if I could buy one threaded barrel to fit both, in case I want to swap the suppressor back and forth. That was the purpose of...
drobs - Never heard that before, but it doesn't mean you are wrong. Can you explain why it's better to use the same barrel/suppressor combination from the same manufacturer, vs. using a Glock OEM threaded barrel and a suppressor from whatever other company. After all, I would think that if a...
Thanks Bravo, and not doubting you, but this goes back to my original question: Why then does Glock offer a Gen 4 and a Gen 5 barrel for the G19?
And which one should I buy to use in both my Gen 3 and Gen 5 G19?
I am going to call Glock on Monday, but still want to hear thoughts.
If they are interchangeable, and function and reliability are not affected, that is all I care about, and that is all I am asking about. I am not concerned about minute differences that have no impact on function or reliability. Sorry if that was not clear in my original post.
Thanks trackskippy, please let us know how it works out. My understanding is that those "fits all gens" barrels do work in the Gen 5, but that the dynamics are a bit different. Something to do with the slope on the barrel hood in the Gen 5 barrels vs. previous generations. Unfortunately, the web...
Thanks. So you seem to be saying that I will really need to buy both of the Glock barrels: The "Gen 5" for my G5, and the "Gen 4" for my G3. Am I correct?
One question: Why do some of these aftermarket companies (usually the less expensive ones like Lone Wolf, Faxon, etc.) claim that their...
OP, why not just buy a Gen 5? No finger grooves to worry about. Unfortunately, your G23 won't have much resale value though, due the work you have done on it. But I think you have reached the point of diminishing returns on it.
I've searched the web on this question, but I get differing or unclear responses, so I will ask THR:
I want to get a Glock OEM threaded barrel for a Gen 5 and a Gen 3 Glock 19. (I just prefer OEM; I know there are alternatives.)
Glock in their armorer's parts list, lists two such barrels: Part #...
I know this question has many posts on the web, but I could not find any from this forum. I trust THR a lot, so I will ask:
I'm looking for an affordable threaded barrel to put into my G19. Doesn't have to be anything fancy. Just has to be reliable.
At some point I might want to add a...
Closing this thread out. I got the Vickers today and it's perfect for my purposes. Like it so much I just ordered one for my other Glock.
Simple, relatively affordable, made in USA - Trifecta.
Thanks again all.
Grab it and hope you don't get arrested for petty larceny. It's an older model, but for that price, get it if you like it. The XD series are still available but the XDM has replaced it. I have an XDM in both 9mm and .45, and they are terrific guns. Replace the factory trigger with a PRP (Powder...
