I have both and reload both, they are both good rounds. I carry both, but I prefer the 10mm for carry because of capacity. For target shooting hot loads I prefer the .357 because I don't have to chase brass or worry about bulged brass.
Is the red dust ok inside my polished brass ok? I switched to walnut polishing compound and my shells come out of the tumbler with red dust inside the cases. Is it ok to reload and use the brass with the dust inside the case?
Buy more 357 brass. I was thinking of doing the same but it would be crazy to load 38 brass to 357 pressures when you can buy used brass for not much money.
I just tested the gun with different .357 factory ammo and I could extract the shells but I had to hit the ejector rod with the palm of my hand. :banghead:
The gun is brand new, fired it for the first time yesterday.
Is it even worth firing .357 in stead of P+ 38's or self defensive purposes? I got the gun so I can carry magnum loads but I'm not sure if its worth it.
I bought a new SP101 yesterday and when I went to shoot it today the .357 shells were very tough to eject. I had to bang the ejector rod on the table to get the shells out. Both my reloads and factory .357 were difficult to eject. I cleaned the cylinder holes and tested it with the sells that...
I have been reloading 357 magnum with 9.6 grains of Unique with a125 gain bullet but I've been using magnum pistol primers. I just noticed this recipe calls for a small pistol primer and not a magnum primer. Will the magnum primers cause any problems shooting these loads through my GP100 or...
Rent and shoot both to see what you like better. I have a 686 and a GP 100 and the GP 100 seems tougher and the lock up is very tight, the S&W 686 has a better trigger. I think its personal preference. I think of the 686 as a great self defense and target gun and the GP 100 as a gun to my...
I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II or my Springfield full size 1911 and both conceal great with my cross bread holster. I was very surprised at how well the full size 1911 carries. I also have a Glock 17 but I love the 1911's and shoot the 1911's extremely well.
I second this I also have the...
I have a 4" 686 + and love it. I also have a 6" Colt Python and the Python was easier shot good groups with at first but with practice I'm good with the 4" 686. I think the extra 2" helps but its not paramount.
I broke my .357 python over 20 years of shooting hot loads, nothing exceeding what the reloading manual says and my redhawk is holding up fine no problems.
