gun turn in, PG county MD this Saturday

A friend of mine turned in his grandfather's hunk-of-junk unlicensed revolver for $200 at a gun buy back here in NY, and bought a mint Remington 1903A3 from the guy on line behind him. A happy ending.

Armed Citizen from AR Interacts with Police Officer in AL

Here in NY, the State Troopers would probably have cleared the firearm and counted the seven rounds in the magazine.

NY suspends dads license because of son...

Would it be a HIPPA violation if the license holder had signed a document during the application process allowing the licensing authority full access to mental health records? That is part of the application paperwork in Suffolk County.

NY suspends dads license because of son...

From the Suffolk County Pistol License Handbook: "IF A POLICE OFFICER REQUESTS YOU TO SURRENDER YOUR LICENSE AND FIREARM(S), AND YOU REFUSE, SUCH CONDUCT WILL BE SUFFICIENT CAUSE FOR THE REVOCATION OF YOUR LICENSE, AND YOU MAY BE ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH A VIOLATION OF SECTION 400.00, SUBD...

    The First One....

Woodchuck, the first rifle I ever fired was a Ithaca 49, lever-action, single-shot .22. It is in my safe right now, and I had my 7-year-old daughter firing it last summer. I think my Dad bought it from the classified ads in the 60's for $10.

NY suspends dads license because of son...

Licenses in Suffolk County allow the gun owner to carry concealed to-and-from the range only. The Suffolk County Police Dept. is the licensing agency, and can suspend one's license at their discretion. Full carry on Long Island is virtually non-existant.

A (very) small victory for NY

Ok, so I can only load 7 in my 8-round Kimber 1911 mags, but 10 in my 10-round Glock mags. Got it.

New York to start Handgun Permit Database

I particularly like this line, ""This database will be a powerful tool that will aid in the enforcement of New York's gun control measures and keep more of our citizens out of harm's way," Silver said. OK, so I filled out several pages of paperwork with all signatures notarized, had four...

A (very) small victory for NY

You can load 10 rounds at at an authorized shooting range, or at an NRA sanctioned competition, but limited to 7 in your own home with a licensed handgun. Absurd.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words

NY has a sign on the west shore of Lake Champlaine warning Vermonters about our strict gun control laws. Nothing funny about that one.

    Message from J&G Sales

"Are their any handgun makers in NY besides Kimber?" The Rohrbaugh shop is about a mile from where I'm sitting.

Difference between a 1907 sling and a Turner NM sling?

I think the Turner 1907 sling is what you are looking for. I would even consider saving $20 and ordering one of their "seconds." I hear the imperfections are barely noticeable. I use the leather national match sling on my match AR.

I think he went with 7 because both Kimber and Remington are based in NY and sell 1911s.
