Hey everyone, I'm an avid SW 500 shooter and was wondering if anyone has used the 400 grain platinum tips on games. They do well on deer sized games from my research, but anyone knows how they fare against large brown bears?

Just an update on the ejector rod. I called S&W today. The rep told me that a bent ejector rod has no affect on model 500's performance due to the way the cylinder is locked by the yoke to frame and the ball detent. I guess I'll be taking the gun to the range to see if it still shoots the same:)

Acutally one spent casing got crooked during extraction and got stuck at the extractor star. I had to force the ejector star back in to straighten the casing. That's how it got bent:)

There's no noticeable signs of bent on the rod. However, when I spin the cylinder, the rod is off center by 1/32 inch measured by ruler.

Hey everyone, I noticed the ejector rod on my SW 500 10" barrel hunter has a 1/32" runout. Does anyone know how much runout is too much or if this slight bent on the ejector rod can cause any problems on the 500? Thank!

Went to the range this morning to shoot the 10.5". The recoil out of the longer barrel is noticeably less compared to the 8 3/8. Shot through 70 rounds of full magnum loads without wearing gloves:)

Despite the barrel being set back, it doesn't appear that they have set it far back enough to affect the rifling per se. I took the revolver to the range, they shot just fine. The distance between the throat and the rifling is decreased, but wouldn't that acutally increase the accuracy? Since...
