CLASSIC EXAMPLE: Why I Don't Open Carry.

The armed guard was an off duty policeman working security as a side gig. I have not seen any reference to a policeman being killed or wounded EXCEPT for the responding policeman in body armor who took a round in his helmet and survived.

    Now THAT'S a BBQ gun.

Why are gun rights supporters worried about bans on so-called assault weapons?

The literal translation of "sturmgewehr" is assault rifle. Gewehr means rifle (waffen means weapon). So, the term assault rifle is clearly defined as a military, select fire rifle in an intermediate caliber. Someone above already mentioned this. Assault weapon is a US media term that is...

Why Do People Say South Carolina is Gun Friendly?

SC is a good state overall for firearms owners. In particular, if you need to use one for self-defense. However, you're right that, I comparison to many other states, our CC laws do provide quite a few restrictions. When I got mine, I was rather surprised by the places I couldn't carry.

    AR handguard removal

M16A1's and A2's that I used in my Army National Guard days = no problem with the ring to remove the upper and lower front handguard pieces. Pop them off, on, etc. These were well-worn rifles, particularly the A1's. I bought a brand new LWRC M6A1 in 2011 = I had to get the damn tool! The...

Police shield / 7.62 x 39 penetration (From Paris incident)

Duh. Wow. Yes, great point! It looks like many rounds didn't penetrate but a few did (far edge on the right).

Police shield / 7.62 x 39 penetration (From Paris incident)

This was posted online as a shield used by the police who stormed the music venue in Paris and killed the terrorists there. The terrorists were stated to be using AK's. So, this would be the effect of 7.62x39mm FMJ rounds, I believe. I think we're looking a the rear of it (they look like...

    Experiences with Gun Broker site

I've bought several (~15) guns via GB going back to 2003. All good experiences. I gave all sellers "A+" ratings. They all gave me "A+" ratings as a buyer. I sold one gun via GB, using my FFL to actually send the gun to the buyer's FFL (for a $50 fee to my FFL which I passed on to the...

    S&W 38 special revolver question

I'm no S&W expert like many on here. What I am, though, is the caretaker of my grandfather's S&W .38, the one that he once fatally shot a charging wild boar with while he was mounted on horseback. It is from 1950 or earlier. I shoot it all the time. To the best of my knowledge, no part...

    S&W Model 360, ok for .38 +P?

I had the impression that the model numbers stamped on S&W frames were quite precise, so I thought it wasn't a 360J since it just has 360 stamped on it. Now that I know that it's a 360J, all is a lot more clear and you're right lots of info is available. I only own two S&W's so I'm not very...

    S&W Model 360, ok for .38 +P?

I have a S&W model 360 Airweight. Just plain 360 on the frame, no prefixes or suffixes. It clearly states the caliber as "S&W .38 CAL" - but I've fired it many times and it's .38 Special. Question: Can I shoot +P in this? I never have. I have searched on the internet and on this site and...

BATFE proposes to ban SS109 & M855 ammunition for civilian sales.

That letter, and seeing my Rep's signature there, made me happy. We really CAN get our game together and do things the right way. If the BATFE proceeds to ignore this and ban M855 it will be a real line in the sand situation.

Two more Federal Court 2nd Amendment victories today

"A well-educated electorate being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and read books shall not be infringed." That was in the video and it's GOLD. It explains the 2nd Amendment perfectly.

    DC Carry ruling... finally

Someone is likely to test this and will probably be instantly arrested and charged with a mountain of felonies which will take years and piles of money to litigate. So goes the USA in the 21st century.

    AIM Surplus

I first purchased from AIM in 2003 when I got my C&R. I've made at least one purchase each year, often more, since then. 100% good experiences.

    Cultural Sensitivity and Firearms

A lot of good advice in this thread. I've lived in Asia for a long time, traveled to Japan many times, and have close Japanese friends. My take on this: 1. Original Question - No, no one will be offended as long as you don't go on some tangent about the war and how we won and ra ra ra...

    Guns in Literature

No particular comment about the subject. However, I am 100% sure I read an awesome thread here about this exact same subject before with many, many great references.
