Amen!!! This is exactly how it should be, a cooperative relationship between law-abiding citizens and LEOs. If there is no reason to be concerned, then there should be no intervention whatsoever. If I'm ever asked to hand over my weapon to an LEO, I will cooperate only because my experience...
Why in the world do you ask to see the guns? It's not your business. I have no desire to see your backups. I may be an honest citizen or a felony waiting to happen, but I should be left alone unless reasonable suspicion exists to interfere with my freedom to bear arms. Issue the citation or...
My problem with that experience is that he shouldn't have asked you to hand him your gun. The gun was a non-issue and only became an issue when he asked to see it. He could have just said that the CCW came up, asked if you were carrying, then sent you on your way.
Generalizations, like stereotypes, often occur because there is usually some degree of truth to it. Don't you usually find that the majority of folks in favor of the rkba are usually conservative? How many liberal politicians are out there stumping for the rkba? There's nothing that says you...
Awhile back I watched a show that highlighted the operations of the Secret Service. In it they mentioned that the issue pistol was a Sig P229. Just now I was reading the current American Rifleman and Sig had an ad in there saying the P229 was the pistol of choice for law enforcement, or...
Any kids in the house? If not, buy a few affordable pistols for around the house. Keep one in the kitchen, one in the couch cushions, one in bedroom, bathroom, etc. Maximize the potential for self-defense. You don't want to hope that you have time to run to the room where you keep the one...

I met him once when I was a soldier. He put on a concert for the base and myself and a few other guys were asked to fire three volleys on stage during his concert. It was pretty cool and unbelievably LOUD! A real good guy, sincere through and through.
It's a hobby like any other. Wine and cigar connoisseurs would argue just as passionately as you would/are about guns. Granted, wine and cigars are consumed with use and guns are not, but the passion remains the same. Same could be said about almost anything really.
Haven't carried OWB on hip yet. I carry in pocket and/or IWB appendix carry. For me it makes more sense as I'm not trying to draw attention to myself and if I need to draw covertly, the action is less likely to attract attention with appendix draw rather than hip draw. Plus, it seems more...
The main thing I remember from my concealed carry class is to do what you can to avoid an incident, which is exactly what the OP described. He did everything he could do AND followed up with the LEO. Pulling a trigger should always be last resort.
Good job!
