    Wounded by the 44 Magnum...

I can certainly visualize how that happened and all I can say is ‘better you than me’. I no longer have any interest at all to shoot .44 mag’s. I’ll stick to the .38+P’s and call it done.

Semi wad / Full wadcutters as a ccw round?

    I also switched to Buffalo Bore .38 spl +P 158gr. LSWHC-GC as my primary carry load. Now, I carry a S&W 640 @23-ounces and I wouldn't care to use it in a vapor-weight.

How should a nice blued revolver be stored?

I agree the BoreStore and Eezox is very good, but I use the Ballistol Sportsman's Gun Oil simply because it works just as well, and I can get it with the BoreStore on the Midway website. Anyway, just my 2-cents.

    Enclosed Hammer or Open?

Well, I agree the 649 isn’t easy on the eyes, especially with the pithy stock grips. Still, it makes for an easy draw from the appendix or pocket carry.

    S&W stainless finishes

Hi Jad0110, Well, if you notice my 'newer' 640 above, the cylinder was a bit shinier than the frame. Now, even though I liked the toned down buff job, its currently at Smith’ being ‘bright polished’. In fact, I called today to add something else to the work order. If it comes out the way I...

Oops! This tuned into a duplicated post, so disregard.

    S&W stainless finishes

finish fanatics... I purchased a new garden variety 640 last year and it looked just fine. Then I decided to make it a project piece for the heck of it. As you can see, the edges have been dehorned, along with a buff job to soften the appearance. You can easily experiment with the stainless...

    Thinking about my first revolver...

2-Cents It will be hard to find what you’re looking for in the 500-dollar range. I can’t imagine anyone spending 100-bucks plus shipping to moonclip a Rossi. Since this is for conceal carry I also wouldn’t recommend anything larger than a snub S&W j-frame or perhaps a Ruger SP101. Ok, if you...

would you buy a 9mm revolver?

I agree with some others. If it were built from the ground up with a cylinder cut to the proper length and all steel, then yes.

    Bowen Classic Arms, experiences?

Hamilton Bowen modified my S&W 640 to my specs and I was very happy with his work. He and his helper(s) do great work and he stands behind what he sells. Very honest and responsive with any questions or concerns. Highly recommended.

How many of you were converted to revolvers?

As with many, I started with revolvers then joined the auto-loader phase, and came back full-circle to revolvers in the forth quarter. I still kick myself every time this topic comes up. I had a few revolvers, and my local dealer pleaded with me to buy more before the Colts and 'pre-lock' Smiths...

No brainer for me, as I would jump on the Colt.

Hillary Locks - A reality check

I agree with you, in part. I have two new guns with locks and I’m very much Ok with modifying them to suit my needs. I applied a melded radius on the entire gun for carry and I’ll likely do a lot more that I would never consider on a pre-lock. So, from this aspect I view the new versions as...

    Python rebarreling

Of all the revolvers on the market, the Colt Python still rules supreme. There is no way in hell I would change out that barrel.

    Revolver trade advice...

If it were me and I really wanted it, I wouldn't let the market value vs. condition affect my decision. Life is too short for me to be a collector.

    Opinions on 327 Magnum

Very well put... 'momentarily'... I was on the fence with a .327 but I fortunately fell off before dropping the plastic.

Next best Snubbie.. and not a 642 or 442

I agree, the only reason I own Smiths' is because Colt bailed from the market. I bet they regret that bonehead decision these days.

    Problems with my new 686

I would have a ‘reputable’ gunsmith go through it completely and make everything right. Unfortunately, good gunsmiths are hard to find. I use Bowen Classic Arms since he’s readily available and does good work. Of course, you could send it off to the factory and have them inspect, repair and...
