    wasted 17 HMR

thats some pretty reassuring information, its common for me to buy a rifle similar in POU to others i own and watch the new one become safe queens because it didnt perform noticeably better than what i already had, but if the HMR is as much of an upgrade as yall say hopefully ill be takin it out...

    wasted 17 HMR

so im planning on picking up a heavy barreled marlin 917v from my walmart, its only $220 but i was wondering if it truly would be worth the money. i own a 10/22 already as well as a remington bolt 22...they both are plenty accurate for my purposes killing cans but i feel that it would be worth...

    decent knife for the money

dionysusigma: the 119s have held up plenty fine, being so cheap they were my first choice for this stuff back in high school and college, if it broke 30 bucks would get me a new one though i only had one break and only 2 or 3 bend and this is out of probably close to 15 of them suckers...buck...

    decent knife for the money

im contemplating getting a new fixed blade knife to add to my hunting pack/outdoors pack i buy knives to use for things like splitting wood, cleaning game, camp chores...really anything under the sun and before anyone claims that a knife isnt the best for wood splitting, i must say that i...

fun caliber and gun model to add to the collection

solid argument for the 7mm-08...its seems either would be an excellent round, i think by this point unless something else comes up offering better flight patterns im now going to be looking at the round that i can get in the best rifle for under a grand

    Best home defense rifle?

not neccesarily....although rifle rounds are much higher velocity and carrying more force if using frangible or highly expanding rounds i would propose that a layer of sheet rock on the wall would be nominally enough to set the bullets properties into action and the second provide a backs...

Advice Please-non hunter wants to buy one nice rifle

if it isnt for hunting maybe consider something in the .223/5.56 flavor a remington 700 is a good example that would leave you approx. $300 dollars for a decent 3-9 or 4-10 power scope or a nice lever action in .30-30 by henry arms and i know you said you like wood but an AR15 or AR10...

fun caliber and gun model to add to the collection

how is the 7.62x54r a "man's man's" cartridge? percieved recoil in a mosin nagant 91/30 is minimal compared to the .300 or .338 win mags; and considerably childish compared to a browing in 10 Ga..... however im not sayin the 7.62 isnt fun, ive shot my friends many times it just isnt as...

fun caliber and gun model to add to the collection

fun caliber and gun model to add to the collection

well 800 foot pounds is what is commonly required for expanding bullets to work so 1000 ft-lbs at 500 yards should be plenty acceptable for my uses...you mentioned the 7MM-08 do you know how that compares to the .260 for just long range paper punching(distance) that is this rifles main use is...

fun caliber and gun model to add to the collection

the .260 is a 6.5 too does that mean it can use the 144s as well? if so then i suppose whichever packs more powder would be superior

    New miller lite bottle

not to shoot down your theory, as it is correct about liquids behavior in a vortex, but isnt the best pour a slow 90 second pour? one that goes in two stages developing a head and then adding the remaining volume of the bottle?

fun caliber and gun model to add to the collection

well as i said i have a 300 win mag so magnums are not a stranger to me...as for the .45-70 and other short range cartidges that isnt really what i enjoy. i like the long range and practice it because here on the eastern plains of new mexico and west plains of texas the antelope and mule deer...

Need your help about which rifle to buy

best bet is to remove the bolt and shine a light down the barrel or inspect it looking up at a light....as for checking the action, cycle it to see that it feels good, not too sloppy not too stiff cycles well, if you could also try this with new models thatd make it easy to tell
