What is the scoop on the Indian made muzzleloader pistols?

No one I know is happy. The ones I have seen were in my opinion not safe.

    percussion cap shortage? or overpriced?

Not sure. Have not found out. They may make their own, after all, they essentially are the same as primers for cartridge ammo. If that is the case, Remington cap shortage shortage probably related to cartridge ammo shortage as that is more profitable for Remington. I shoot mainly CW era and...

    Load all six at once.

The consistancy in ball depth would be very beneficial to the competition shooter.

    percussion cap shortage? or overpriced?

Part of the problem is that the plant that made caps for Navy Arms blew up a few years ago and I have not heard about it being rebuilt. CCI and RWS are the only mfg. left. Less competition, higher price.

    Musket cap vs Percussion cap

brand of musket cap/flash shield CCI reduced their caps to satisfy reenactor complaints. As such, they don't work very well any more. RWS caps are super caps. These are more consistant than any others on the market and are the favorites of competition BP shooters. To remedy the stock...

ANyone know what this barrel is for?

HA was known more for shotguns and pistols than rifles. Could this be a 410 gauge percussion shotgun barrel? HA went into business in 1868 and out of business in early 1900's. Numrich Arms makes the barrel post 1950 as that is when they were founded. This barrel likely was made by...

    proof testing

Actually, you don't know if the Italian proofed barrel will survive the British Test. I actually expect it to pass most of the time. But I would expect more failures.:) I just know I feel safer with a proofed barrel.

    proof testing

The problem has been that these Indian made pieces have been shipped to the US as decorations, not firearms , vents undrilled, so that they cannot be fired. The vents are then drilled:what: and used as firearms:eek::eek::eek:. There have been some spectacular failures and a few injuries...

what cleaning chemicals is everyone using?

:uhoh:Mykeal I was thinking of leading, not fouling. Should not post when late and tired. But then again, would not lead be hard fouling?:)

    proof testing

I am Very Glad to see this type of testing going on with the Indian made pieces. If sufficient numbers are tested, I would be very happy to see a cheap repo available on the market. There are only two improvements that I would suggest: as Mykeal suggested, enough examples of the same...

    Very Interesting find today

32 RF are available but expensive. :what::) Unless they have stopped making them, a company in Canada makes them. I have a couple of boxes of the ammo I got cheap. Check your gun show ammunition dealers.:)

what cleaning chemicals is everyone using?

Do the same in N-SSA. I use 3-5 patches then wipe dry. After finished for the day, after final clean up, just oil and pack away. At home before next match do a take down and clean up. If necessary, use Hoppe's no 9 if any hard fouling left behind.

    Desire to Dry Fire

Without the cylinder, the Italian guns usually suffer frame damage:uhoh: from the hammer. That is how I got my beat up practice revolver after the owner asked me to fix it.:) Got him another better shape (used) of the same model. Other is not worth fixing.

My Method Of Removing Stuck Balls

Most fouled bp guns happen when there is a powder charge that didn't go off. If no powder, probably no issue. If you are not positive, that 3-5 grains is likely to set off the unfired charge resulting who knows what damage to the barrel or you. Seat the ball anyway in an abundance of...

My Method Of Removing Stuck Balls

Unless the ball is firmly seated at the bottom of the breach, this method is potentially very dangerous. Most barrel bulges, ruptures, etc occur when the bullet is not seated.

    Desire to Dry Fire

I now use a beat up old BP revolver to practice my trigger squeeze. Before this, I used a seperate set of nipples to practice with. I use a rubber boot made from faucet washers to protect the hammer. Just trim the faucet washer down until it fits in the slots.

    Euroarms Project

Euroarms is no more. Pedersoli I believe bought them out of bankruptcy. Most parts are still available from S&S DGW and Lodgewood.
