    Wildey Survivor Parts

For the record, after some further research, the Wildey does indeed use a Remington 700 extractor. There are even 2 versions of Wildey bolts that use different 700 extractors based on what the 700 was using at the time.

    Wildey Survivor Parts

You're right... it looks almost exactly the same... almost to the point that I wonder if someone else didnt try that swap in the past... may be worth 15 bucks just to see... interesting... thanks!

    Wildey Survivor Parts

Yeah, I am about to just leave them a message saying "I just want to give you money!" But somehow I expect nobody is checking them. As for machining, a new locking lug probably wouldnt be too hard to make, but the exctactor is a little U shaped piece of spring steel that would be much more...

    Wildey Survivor Parts

Okay, I recently got a good deal on a Wildey Survivor that needed some work. I have so far been able to replace the slide and firing pin to great effect, but the gun still fails to relaibly extract at any gas setting. Upon finally getting the bolt fully disassembled it is clear that many of...

    Steyr GB cycling speed

Shot it a little more today and attempting to change my grip didnt seem to have much effect on the felt recoil. Whilst cleaning it, I did notice a very slight amount of peening on the very lip of the gas cup corresponding with the corners of the hex nut machined into the barrel breech. If this...

    Steyr GB cycling speed

I have tried thumbs forward, but my hands are frankly not large enough, so I have figured out what works for me. Regardless of that, gripping them all the same way should still yeild comparable results, and the Steyr, whilst being a fairly linear feeling recoil, is still a good bit sharper. I...

    Steyr GB cycling speed

The gun, vent holes, and gas brake all appear to be quite clean, open, and closely fit, and the recoil spring doesnt seem to be weak (as the forward velocity of the slide closing is in line with the other guns). I think it is working alright, but for the internet reviewers describing the recoil...

    Steyr GB cycling speed

I recently bought a Steyr GB. The internet at large tells me that the recoil on these is rather soft and pleasant, however I have found mine to be rather sharp and none too soft at all. Not knowing if this was an issue with the gun, me, or the internet's interpretation of "soft", I took some...

    M30 C96 Mauser grips

Does anyone have experience with Sarco gun parts and grips? These look pretty good, and they have a ton of other parts, but the prices seem too good to be true... https://www.sarcoinc.com/c96-broomhandle-mauser-1930-c-grip/

    M30 C96 Mauser grips

Had the day off work so I just got it done... There does seem to be significant variety right up until they modified the grip frame for the M30s, after which "Line count reduction reached its apotheosis with the M-30s, which invariably have 12 groove grip panels." The best looking and priced...

    M30 C96 Mauser grips

Indeed... at least the rest of the conservation job turned out nicely... Parts stripped and ready for cleaning: Blued parts degreased and boiled in water to revert fine surface rust back to blue: Blued parts buffed with 0000 steel wool, re-oiled, and reassembled: The effect is somewhat...

    M30 C96 Mauser grips

In the process of conserving the entire gun as a whole, I went ahead and stripped the paint off the grips to see what was under it... because I was likely to have to replace them anyway. As it turns out, if there is any wood in there, it appears to be completely shelled by bakalite or some...

    M30 C96 Mauser grips

Oh yeah, I think those are the type of grips I have on it right now, so I will keep hunting for some good legitimate 12 groove wood ones appropriate to the M30. As for the Tokarev ammo, I have not shot any of that through mine. Finding .30 Mauser actually isnt too difficult suprisingly, and I...

    M30 C96 Mauser grips

Thanks... I have actually replaced the springs and firing pin, and it shoots quite nice - excellent rifling. I did actually find one set of similar looking grips on gun broker, but still a bit of a mystery: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/848985552 Numrich has some replacements but the ones...

    M30 C96 Mauser grips

I have a decent shooter grade early 1930s commercial 7.63mm C96 Mauser that I have been looking into cleaning up a little (nothing drastic). But the grips really have me confused. They do appear to be wood, but they seem to have been painted at some point, and more puzzling is what appears to...

    Benelli B76 Impact Damage

I only have a sample size of one but the priming weight is fairly light compared to other guns, presumably by merit of there being little in the way of locking peices. My understanding of the mechanism is that the lever wedges against the slide and pushes the bolt down into the locking surface...

    Benelli B76 Impact Damage

I recently purchased a used but still nice Benelli B76 for my collection. I have put probably around 100 rounds through it or so, but during the last range session, the slide began sticking and became very tight to work at a given point. I took it apart and discovered that the locking shoulder...

Peacemaker with Color Case Hardening & Transfer Bar

Well Tulsa has come and gone (for me anyway). I decided on a plain jane blued Ruger Vaquero with a 4.75" barrel in .357 mag. Very nice gun as it is. Next step... save up some cash for a complete Turnbull job! ha ha

    Nikon M-223 IRT

I have been wanting a Nikon M223 2.5-10X40 Laser IRT scope for my AR15. Has anyone seen or used one of these yet? The prices appear to be creeping up - I thought they were only around $750 before, but online they are all now around $850. Anyone have a more accurate price estimate of what...

    KelTec KSG

I saw one at the local gun show last Saturday and about choked at the $1500 price tag. Now I understand why... I have been wanting one for some time, but after having gotten to handle one in person... I really really want one! Seemed very smooth and sturdy. Maybe in a few years...
