    Lanber info?

Lanber Johnpl, I picked up a Lanber 2087 as a Christmas present for myself in December. Aside from the action being *tight* for the first few weeks it has been an excellent low-cost O/U. I normally shoot four or five rounds of trap a week, after several thousand rounds I have had 1 FTF and...

    Wolf Target Sport Shotshells?

I shot a couple boxes of the Wolf shells at the local trap range yesterday. Without the aid of a patterning board I can't say what the shot patterns looked like but they did break just as many targets per round as fresh AA's and my reloads. No extraction problems or failures to report. The...

    Wolf Target Sport Shotshells?

While I was at my local reloading supply center today I noticed that they had a large supply of Wolf brand shells, 2 3/4 or 3 dram 1 1/8oz 8 or 9 shot for $39/case. I picked up a case, an 8lb jug of Clays, 75lbs of shot and staggered off to the car. :D The shells look normal, they are brass...

    I'm hooked on shotguns

Denton, You are hooked. In your future I see a reloader, bags and bags of #8 and #9 shot, and a membership to a shooting club. Like you, I found out a month ago that shooting flying things that break is more fun than paper targets that don't move. Now there's a Lee Load-All II and a RCBS...

    Take your time

I knew that today was not going to be a good for trap, staying out until 5AM the night before does not do anything good to a person's reaction times. Bleary-eyed for my first round on the line, I surprised myself by shooting my average, a respectable-for-me 19. But then I made things worse...

    Building a SO trap gun.

Midnight, All very good points. While I doubt that I am *tougher* than my SO (Fellas, lets's not delude ourselves on that one. Our SO's put up with us on a regular basis!) her having less of an interest in the sport does mean that she needs lower recoil starting out. Having said that, I am...

Finally got a chance to try out the Lanber

I went to the local Monday night league shoot tonight. 20, 17, and 20 in low key, unscored practice. Not too shabby, I got a few pointers from the guy who runs the league, and then... Stepped up to the league rounds and got a 21 in the first round and a 23 in the second, shooting my reloads...

Finally got a chance to try out the Lanber

Kris, You got a great price, CDNN lists the 97 for $499. The SKB bag was suggested to me by another trap shooter who lives in downtown San Francisco. He does not have parking at his place and sometimes has to walk a block or two from his front door to his car. (Usually not a problem...

Finally got a chance to try out the Lanber

Mr.... ah, Dave, Thanks for the advice. There's a big show out here in a few weeks and I'm going to load up on shot and powder, I'll grab a couple bags of 8 1/2 to experiment with. If I can find a gun/load combination that the SO is happy with Monday night trap might get to be a tradition...

    Building a SO trap gun.

Thanks for all the advice! Unfortunately, most of the ranges in my neck of the woods (SF Bay area) do not have rental guns. Whatever I buy, it will probably have to be modified by a 'smith. The biggest complaint of my GF was that my gun, 7 1/2 lbs with 30" bbls, was too heavy and too slow...

    Building a SO trap gun.

My SO surprised me (again!) this week by not only wanting to go with me to the trap range this week, but by saying "That looks like fun. I want to try it but your gun is too heavy and kicks too hard." That last line was deliverd with a universally recognizable look that means "I told you what I...

Finally got a chance to try out the Lanber

Back from the trap range... I shot four rounds, my scores were 14, 11, 16, and 16. Most of my missed birds came from stations one and five, where I was shooting either below or behind the crossing birds. Next time out I'm going to start off from station five so I can focus on my trouble shots...

Finally got a chance to try out the Lanber

When I left off, on TFL as BostPan, my Lanber 87 was sitting in the FFL's gun safe for it's 10 day nap and I was looking forward to trying it out. The gun looks like this: Here is a detail shot of some of the engraving: I was going to try it out ASAP but... then the SO flew...
