Best back stop for Home range

I'd think dirt would still be the best backstop and probably the cheapest too. Why not try to figure out a way to plant shrubs or flowers around and on it somehow? Just my 2c.

    A Zombie Story Thread

I'm enjoying the story so far. I can't wait til you get up to Phoenix and Maricopa county. I'm one of those crazy, gun toting Arizonans that'll be fighting off the zombies. Don't forget Sherriff Joe Arpaio has his tanks and .50cal guns too. Maybe he could round up a chain gang in their...

Cleaning Time: Wife Thinks I'm a Nut

On average I'd say about 10-15 minutes. I do a basic cleaning after each trip to the range, but every 2-3 times I do a more detailed cleaning that can take up to 30 min.

    CA/AZ THR SHOOT

Are you going to be checking in with them about camping there, or should I call ahead also? My wife and I get off work Friday at 4pm and should be able to leave by 5pm or shortly after. We live near the 51 and 101 in north Phoenix. Anyone want to drive together from there or meet up along...

Am I attracting too much attention?

Have black helicopters been hovering above? Noticed anyone following you? Seem like anyone is going through your trash? I know CA is bad, but I'd hope your purchases are not setting off alarms somewhere. Good luck!

    Sportsmans Warehouse

The 3 stores in the Phoenix area have the same sign. I don't think they would even have a problem with open carry. They just require that it be unloaded and checked if you plan on unholstering/handling it for service/trade-in.

Ammo Cooking off in a House Fire

My guess would be a round cooking off in a chamber would fire, but the gun would malfunction/misfeed before loading the next round to fire. Most handguns rely on resistance by the shooter and won't quite cycle right without that. Ex. limpwristing.

    Rate your state

+1 :) Pros: Many good gun shops in the state and even a good amount of decent gun shows per year. Many ranges to go shoot at and also a lot of open land to find a place to shoot also. In the last 2 years they have eliminated the CCW renewal and shortened the original class from 16 hours...

    Kel-Tec trigger pinches finger.

P3AT did that to me when new. About 1 in 10 shots fired would "bite" my finger. The trigger from the factory was fairly rough and had molding lines in the plastic on each side and the bottom. I took a 3/8" round chainsaw file and worked the bigger parts off very slowly until the whole thing...

    CA/AZ THR SHOOT

I subscribed to this thread and have it penciled in on the calendar. Hard for me to plan a couple months out, but I'm interested in attending. I'd also be coming from Phoenix and would be looking for a place to camp.

    Elk sign...what is this?

The trees that you are seeing are called rubs. Deer and Elk will rub off the velvet from their antlers. The areas on the ground are called scrapes. They will "dig" a spot down to bare earth and mark it with their scent. Ok, just found this link that does a decent job of explaining what is...

    handloading 7.62 x 39

Here here is a link that might help from Lee's website. http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi-data/instruct/TP2131.pdf On the bullet seater/crimper die, you usually get a round you want to replicate. With the die in that station removed, put it in the press and run the ram all the way up. Make...

    squirrel cleaning advice?

Good video. That's how I've always done it up until the point he pulls the front legs and head out. At that point, I usually leave them attached and cut them off with a knife on the neck and by the feet. Then, you will have a little fur on both the back legs remaining. You can pull that back...

    Buying a progressive press?

Thanks for your replies guys. This is going to be a hard decision. I've searched the forum and it is hard to get good info because with the Lee vs. Dillon, people are usually opinionated strongly one way or the other. Besides the price, it did seem like the Lee had a slight edge for what I...
