Anyone in the San Diego area who wants to caravan out there, let me know. I'd offer rides, but my car is full.
To summarize:
December 15-16, Yuma, AZ, Adair shooting range.
Bring guns, ammo, food, and a place to sleep.

Bear - Boy? Girl? Waiting to find out? How's Ellie holding up? Haven't seen her posting on here in a while ('course I've been lurking more than posting lately anyway).

Wish I could make it, but I'll be hard pressed the way things are going to get to the national THR get together. I was going to go to the F1 race in Indy next June, but unless I start doing a lot of business travel to get a free plane ticket that ain't gonna happen either.

Lenny, sorry for using most of your 9mm last year. I'll make it up to you if you go this time haha. That little browning high power was just so much fun!

Never been to that range. Could someone tell me what to expect. Is there a place to camp on the range grounds? How is the range set up, I have only been to 1 range which is ben avery. Just looking for some info. on what to bring and what not. What time does the range close, I wont be able to get down there untill later at night, get off work at 4pm on fridays, live in Phoenix.

I subscribed to this thread and have it penciled in on the calendar. Hard for me to plan a couple months out, but I'm interested in attending. I'd also be coming from Phoenix and would be looking for a place to camp.

There are multiple ranges, including four or five pistol ranges, and a very large 1000 yard rifle range. Last year, we all arrived after dark Friday evening, and camped in an open area off the road, within the range grounds. The caretaker didn't mind. We'll probably camp in the same spot this year. We didn't start shooting until Saturday morning.

DUNEBLADE,

Last year we camped out off of the side of the road right outside of the range grounds. It was literally just a little dirt area under a tree with a fire pit. We all slept in our cars or on the ground. This year I might bring a tent because it was FREEZING (I "slept" on the open tailgate of my brother's truck).

Here's a picture of the camp area (from dasmi's photo gallery):

And here's a view of the range:

I might be wrong but I think there were about three or four ranges like that all laid out next to eachother and separated by those dirt mounds.

Hope that helps.

Too bad the R/C Aircraft strip is so far from the trap/skeet range.:p

It's a boy! Tentative name Walker.

Any middle name ideas?

Ellie has been lurking around Kit's LJ pages, and various "how to give birth" sites, I think.:D

Hey I just posted a few days ago on the SD yahoo board that y'all should go out to Yuma again. I didn'I make the last trip, sadly, and I definitely won't be able to go this year.

Too bad the R/C Aircraft strip is so far from the trap/skeet range.

Not too far away, just a ways off of 95, is an abandoned NG 100 yard range. Before you get to it, there is an R/C airfield that makes the one at Adair look silly. The nice thing about the one at Adair, obviously is that it is close and free, but the one just down the way is sweet, indeed.

Here are directions, (And if you keep driving around that area you can find the NG range and some fun off-roading. No sense shooting at the NG range, when Adair is so close, though.) Also if you continue west from Adair, there is some nice off-roading, (Though a bit hairy, might want to take 2 4x4s.)

Hope y'all have a blast at Adair and take more pics.

ok cool, sounds good, a tent and a ice chest full of food, and lots of ammo. Can do, just wondering, would it be possible for someone to maby post a cell number, or something, so if someone has a hard time getting there. If you all feel uncomfortable with that, that is fine. I just dont want to get down there late at night as get lost, lol.

Alas shooting in a free state!

Sounds good. I will talk to the rest of my crew and we will probably be in.

I have a few camp stoves if you would like me to bring them (most are white gas/dual fuel). But it seems silly to drag firewood all the way from los angeles.

Also, if anyone is interested in meeting up/caravaning from the LA/OC area drop me a private and I'll see if we can work something out.

Yuma get together

Hi

Adair Range is a pretty nice facility. Is there still a meet that may take place there this NOV. or DEC. ? I'd like to have some more info, see if I can go. Tentatively I have events on the 11th (Orosco Ridge clean-up in Ramona, CA, a biannual event done in the hopes of keeping THE ONLY open shooting area in San Diego county. One was just shut down in Riverside co. due to trashing.), and on the 17th a 'turkey shoot' at the Lake Wolford/Escondido Fish & Game facility. Either or both are probably ditchable

Anyone into the 1K range? I want to try out extended distance targets (400yd. +). I hear there is a plate at 1K, but have never seen it.

What about self-contained rv or car camping at the facility, or closeby? I've seen campers on or close to the facility along side the road in the past.

How does one contact the range master at Adair, aside from stopping at the trailer?

Is tannerite ok at Adair?

Thanks
