    Czech revolvers?

http://www.czechpoint-usa.com/products/revolvers/22-lr/czechpoint-241/ I'm looking for a inexpensive 22 lr DA revolver to plink, hunt and light target shooting. I would love to get a S&W but can't afford one. Any comparisons with these revolvers and a similar Taurus? thanks

    223 and 5.56 labelling

interesting from H&R I called H&R and they told me NO 5.56. BUT my 1 in 9 twist 223 will shoot better with heavier bullets between 62 and 77 grains. I found that interesting and the previous discussion about heavier bullets being longer does not seem to apply. Seeing there ARE differences...

    223 and 5.56 labelling

I have several boxes of ammo that is labeled 223 AND 5.56X45 Am I to assume it can be used in both a 223 and 5.56? Does this mean I can shoot it in my Handi 223

What do I need for my first Appleseed?

I attended my first Appleseed this March and it was great. Be prepared to be humbled but you WILL LEARN and have a great time with great instructors. My biggest problem was my elbows. I got one of the padded Marine type shooting jackets and thought I was covered but the heavy twill inside the...

870 12 guage slug bore for upland hunting?

I used to load 7.5 or#8 target load for the first shot then baby magnum 6 for the second shot. Shot are usually with in 15- 20 yards and you want it to open fast and the pellet density will be more than adequate. The second shot would probably be around 20-30 yards and the 6's will carry better...

    Single Shot 12 ga

I have a H&R Pardner 12 and it is a great gun. However If I were to do it again, I would get the new one with interchangeable choke tubes and a scope rail If available. My Pardner singles barrel is too thin to mount a scope rail so I cannot use it with a scope. Contact H&R...

    .223 for deer?

I figure a 223 is marginal for deer. If you choose Nosler partitions and keep your shots under 150 yards plus being able to hit the vitals EVERY TIME. Quartering shots should be of concern due to the increased penetration needed.

Dry graphite rather than oil lubricant?

I find that DuPont s Teflon non-stick lube works great and it goes on wet and dries to leave a non oily Teflon residue. Do not get the one with wax in it. On my Handies I clean the receiver with brake fluid followed by the Teflon spray

    Left hand shooter question

Have them shoot left handed to match his dominant eye. Just think that he will be using his dominant eye and also holding the rifle with his stronger and more educated right hand. The only caution with a right handed bolt with a scope is it is difficult to reach over the scope. Consider...

    Cleaning Jag Question

Wow- Another nugget found-- thanks for the offset patch info. Also be sure that the patch, when folded over, is shorter than the depth of the jag or it will bind at the rear end of the jag. Some other solutions are to cut the corners off a square patch, use round patches, a thinner patch...

    Pump vs Auto

I think it says it all. The auto got more rounds off faster and the operator was able to follow up with the handgun quickly. The follow up with the handgun would surely overcome any auto jam. With the two firearms I would favor the auto as I probably would not take the time to clear the...
