    Ruger semi-Auto reliability? (P95, LC9, SR9)

I have a P85 and P90. Both guns feed anything and I have never had a problem with reliability. Accuracy is less than "tighter" guns, but more than adequate for a service pistol.

    Beretta 92/96 question

I have a 92/96 combo. There were 500 made and it included a frame with a 92 and 96 slide, barrels, and magazines. All pieces were fitted into a dark blue molded Beretta case. I am not sure if there are any differences in the slide fit to the frame, and the 9 and 40 mags are interchangeable.

would you buy a 9mm revolver?

A 9 mm revolver? Why? Why would anyone want a rimless cartridge in a revolver which is designed for a semi-auto?

    1853 Enfield

Pictures would be helpful as there is a huge range in price depending on condition of several components. An all original, mint condition rifle could fetch $2K, but an average condition gun ~$700.

went to a Civil War reenactment a few weeks ago, and noticed something...

I suppose there are a number of reenactors who don't shoot anything else and are not up to par on firearms and range safety. Of course, that's no excuse! It's especially important for percussion and flintlocks where loose powder is being handled. I can't imagine shooting a Brown Bess without...

    Springfield 1863 at the range

I will try again this weekend and leave a report. I am hoping for better reliability!

    Springfield 1863 at the range

I took out my original 1863 yesterday for some test firing. I acquired this gun in an auction a few months back and found the barrel obstructed. I tried everything to get it cleared and even got a ball, wad and powder out. I ultimately had to send it out to Harpers Ferry to have the breech...

1861 springfield percussion cap nipple size

You need musket caps. Period. There is no adequate substitute and the best place is any civil war re-enactment. For purchase. Dixie won't ship them. I tried. I finally bought a cOuple hundred at a nearby re-enactment.

    Entreprise FALs

See my thread on threading a FAL barrel in the Gunsmithing Forum. 9/16 x 24 LH is correct for most FALs and you should not have to turn down the barrel.

What year was the effective end of the revolver as a cop's main duty gun?

I agree with what's been posted regarding the transition from revolver to semi-auto being a 20 or so year deal. There is so much variability between departments. I carried a personal 686 as a security guard from 1984-86 in the Chicago area. The Cook County Sheriff already had made the...

    Threading FAL for muzzle brake

Mission accomplished! I purchased the die and handle from Wholesale Tools online and ultimately the TAT from Midway. Everything worked like a charm. I did NOT need to turn the barrel down or anything and my flash hider threaded right on like a champ. I will use a drop of Loctite for...

    Which scale to believe

I have been using the RCBS low end scale for years without any problems. I doubt safety is an issue with whatever scale you choose (unless you are approaching MAX load data), but consistency in whatever you are loading is important for accuracy in terms of charge weight and OAL. I weigh each...

Colt 3rd GEN 1849 Pocket "Gold Rush"

I have many 2nd gen Colt Blackpowder guns manufactured from 1971-1982 or so. They are extremely well made and the finish is outstanding. I have steered clear of the 3rd GEN Signature series since they were not touched by Colt at all, but the name was licensed to Iver Johnson. Recently, I...

    What happened to Colt?

Like I said in my original post: there is a definite market for the Python. Parts can be manufactured fairly easily, and then on to the Custom Shop for handfittting, polishing, etc. Price would likely be in the $1500 to $2000 range - limited edition maybe 5,000 or so. It can be done, but it...
