****The best powder for a .270 winchester****

I shoot a .270 Win and get real good groups with a variety of powders as mentioned (RL19,RL22,H4350, H4831sc). Same as bullets Interlocks, Interbonds, Hot-core, Partioners, Accubonds. But what I noticed that really makes the .270 shine is MAG primers. I can use any of the above mentioned...

    IMR 4831 Or IMR 4350??????

I'm not a fan of either powder or bullet. I like H4831SC or RL 19 or RL22. For a bullet mine likes 130 or 140 gr Accubonds. Also Hornady interlock bullets. But as mentioned I use CCI mag primers and seems to tighten every load. But work up slowly an you will find that the .270 isn't that...

    270 Win & 150gr bullets?

Bob In my rifle using a magnum primer tightened up my groups. You say you like the 130 gr bullets. I can get a great great group in mine with 130 Accbond, Win brass, CCi magnum Primer, and 59 grs of H4831sc.

    270 Win & 150gr bullets?

I would also try and work some loads up with magnum primers. You can't go wrong with the powders mentioned here. I shot alot of deer with Hornady 140 gr BTSP. Now I'm really getting great groups with Nosler Accubounds. Good luck I'll bet you won't have to tinker much. Let us know how it...

    Rifle Load Development

I agree with most on here about the 130 gr bullets for .270. If you got the extra cash I would try 130 accubonds also. They are very very accurate in my .270 with 60 grs of H4831sc w/CCI LRP. But mine also likes interlocks and hot-core 130gr bullets w/H4831sc. I once read that if your...

    Porting a shot gun

I am thinking about buying a Savage 220 20 guage shotgun for deer hunting. I want to use 3in shells. I don't know what the recoil will be like so my question is can you port the barrel to reduce the recoil? And will the noise from the gun be tollerable? I posted this question in the shotgun...

Anyone ever hunt deer in New Brunswick

I am thinking of going to New Brunswick for a big whitetail. I know that there are better places but the heavy horns and body size really excites me and really the prices aren't that bad I have saw. I would like to hear from some members if they have any experiences good or bad with outfitters?

Difference between winchester model 70 and model 70XTR

Thanks guys for the info. The gun I am looking at is a model 70 featherweight that was made in the 80's. So it sounds like the XTR was a step up. Another question I should have asked was. Would it be hard to strip the satin finish on the gun and make it into a oiled finish?
