    Colt 1903 parts interchange

You are absolutely right, slide fits, barrel won't lock in, it's not the lugs. Looks like the barrel needs a little milling down, but that is real skilled work to be done. I do have one made in 1919 I should see if that fits. I suspect I need something from the late 30s early 40s to pull it...

    Colt 1903 parts interchange

1903 parts interchange Thank you so much Jim. I plan on transplanting the slide only, my barrel is in great shape and type 2 and above require no barrel bushing.

    Colt 1903 parts interchange

Is there any downside to mating a Type 2 frame with a type 4 slide ? I got a 1903 pistol and found a 1903 slide made in 1945. I am assembling a gun to use so I can put away the familily heirloom pistil.

I should say that sporterizing a gun is an American tradition and in line line with our use it up, wear it out , fix it ethos that underpinned the pioneer lifestyle. I build stuff up from parts because I can get the parts and I desporterize because it's a DIY choice. The fact thet we are...

After a better look, I am thinking that may not even be a weapon, this guy might be observing. A rifle or broomstick is better than a tripod in those conditions to hold a monocular, but as a sniper this guy would be in an extremely exposed position.

I have a stripped barreled reciever and a plain receiver that were for sale already undone. I wouldn't sully the history of anything original except to desporterize a gun.

Would an AR be your only rifle? (what rifle type would an only rifle be?)

For me, it would be a Swiss K31. I like it and I am comfortable around it. Not the most practical, but if only one, conditions not implied. Honorable mention: Ernst Stiegleder Guild Sporting Mauser Swedish 1896 Mauser Schmidt Rubin 1911

I saw this photo and I was wondering about the what and how of the scope and mount. I want to scope a Mosin that I'll build up from barreled receiver and this peaked my curiosity. it is here too: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-24160189

    what is this carbine

If the Mini 14 is patterned after the M-14 why is it as accurate as one ? I keep hearing that about Ruger rifles in general. Are they the type of product that you have to mod after you get it for fit, finish and performance ?

    what is this carbine

I think it is interesting that a French Special police unit CRS (Compagnies Républicaines de Sécurité ) uses American Ruger guns given the choices of technology that they have. I wonder if it is an individual's choice ?

    what is this carbine

And if you zoom in on the unit patch it say CRS. I hope that has nothing to do with guns :)

The Police in Tolouse France are using Rugers. How un-French.

    CZ-82 not Polygonal rifling?

How common is sintered iron ammo now ? If I bought what 9x18 that commonly available to shoot in my new barreled cz82 will it damage the rifling ? Is this replacement barreled CZ82 a pig in a poke ? The discussion is leading me to think that I have to shoot premium ammo through the non poly...

    CZ-82 not Polygonal rifling?

When I was ordering at the JG site I just assumed the slightly more expensive one would be better for some reason ( a naive assumption). As it was the the thing arrived almost 100%, tiny bit of finish wear on left front of slide. It gave off lots of oil, leaked in fact. Does the CZ USA...

    CZ-82 not Polygonal rifling?

I just bought a CZ82 with a US made barrel*for $239, same company was offering an original with polygonal barrel for $199. I don't know if I get the better deal or not, I will be getting another (poly). I am very inexperienced anyoneone have inpput on the barrel differences.
