    Has the wife ever....

My wife is still really uncomfortable around guns and certainly doesn't look in my safe, but if worse came to worse I'd give up all my guns and learn to fight with three foot sections of rebar if that's what it took to make her stay. I really like my guns, but I love my wife. CB

Concealed Carry Essay: Rebuttal from Teacher

As someone who went through a similar system, I think what we're seeing here isn't so much about the anti-gun, left-wing nature of the academy, but one of the other serious problems that English departments all across the country are refusing to address. Your professor is a graduate...

Concealed Carry Essay: Rebuttal from Teacher

Granted, that "rebuttal" is less than fully professional, but something that I don't think anyone's pointed out yet is that an 85 is far from a serious ding. I teach English at a SEC school (not unlike TAMU) and a student who gets an 85 from me has shown me an awful lot of good stuff...

    shotgun question

That's just what I wanted to hear. I go back and pick it up first thing tomorrow so I can try it out on some clays before the afternoon heats up. Chris

    shotgun question

I was looking at a lightly used Mossberg 500 at my favorite pawn shop this morning. The action felt like it cycled well and the gun didn't seem to be abused, but there was a little play in the forearm. With the action closed the forearm felt like it could wiggle around the magazine very...

    Mec-Gar Magazines and Sig P226 and P229...

I picked up a used 226 about a year ago and it instantly became my favorite gun. I've probably put 2k rounds through it using the 17-round mecgar mags and have never had a problem.

Why I love $50, 22RF rifles, a story of one such Beater

Red: Thanks, I didn't do anything too fancy. Since I'd only paid $25 for the gun I figured I didn't have anything to lose. I disassembled the gun as far as convenient, wiped it down really well with rubbing alcohol while wearing rubber gloves, and hung it up in the side yard via some twine...

Why I love $50, 22RF rifles, a story of one such Beater

Rob, I did one just like that last year, only it was for me. I used Blue/Rust remover to get down to bare metal and then did the barrel assembly with BBQ paint. Way easier than cold blue and better looking to boot Good luck on your project. Chris

Wow, my first post and just flat out killed this thread. I must be as bad as Jesse James.

    Another Liberal analyzes gun ownership....puh-leeze...

I've been lurking here for a long time and, although I don't really have anything to add regarding John Moe's experiment, I do want to chime in and thank hillbilly and DirtyBrad for enunciating the difficulties of being a gun owner in a traditionally anti-gun profession. As a gun-toting...
