I had (now wish I still did) a Colt Delta Elite SS. It was a perfect weapon. It shot everything I fed it and never had any problems. Very accurate and very fun to shoot. I put in heavy wolf spring and shock buffer and it was a dream to shoot. Bought it for 650 and sold for 850 a couple years...
How does the little dandy work on flake powder such as Red Dot? Some powder measure equipment has real problems with flake or even extruded powder. I was curious as to how the little dandy performs.
I have looked at MBC and their 357 offering of 158gr SWC. The site says that they are BHN of 18. According to the LEE manual the bullet will be able to withstand about 23,000 psi.
For all of you that have loaded this bullet, will it withstand higher pressures than that?
I ask because...
Update - before I got to contact Hornady, I was at a gun show today and looked at the most recent edition of the Lyman manual.
In 45 ACP for 185 graing hollow points, it lists Red Dot.
3.1 - 6.0gr with C.O.L. of 1.175"
So my load of 5.8gr at 1.258" seems to be well within the limits.

So far there are no indications that what I have is dangerous. The 1.210 is a lot shorter than the 1.258 I loaded mine to.
The Lee book does not show Red Dot for XTP...

Thanks for the info.
Anybody else have input?
Using the load data it shows that the load is:
5.7 - 5.9 gr powder
185 gr XTP bullet
Min OAL - 1.275"
So I load up 450 rds. I decide I need to go shoot some and what do ya know? The cartridge length is too long :banghead: for the 1911 magazines.
I went with the data in the book and it...
I just purchased a LNIB 1978 Colt SAA in .357 Magnum with 4.75" barrel. It is incredibly beautiful and I like it very much. I just have one question because I was kinda shocked that in lockup there is some cylinder movement that can take place if one tries to move the cylinder end-to-end or on...
For holster quality leather that is reasonably priced, check out zackwhite.com. Look at the premium double shoulder in 7-8 ounce. It is gum backed which makes the flesh side fairly smooth. Their leather comes from WesTan. Very dense leather, makes a fine looking holster.
For dyes look for...
