    Scheels Sporting Goods

Do you get to the Springfield Ill-annoy Scheel's store much? I probably visit that store more than i visit the family:D🤫. They have a lot of primers in stock, and the .410 is abundant...and very cheap compared to recent years. I shamelessly buy as many cases of .410 as i can carry out the door...

How Much Land to Shoot On?

Very hilly here, but have a clear shot at 265 yds (with a drop of approx. 15 ft). Could go 300 yds if i clear some trees but 265 is plenty for me. A 25 yd handgun range is just outside the back door, and from that same point i can shoot 180 yds in a different direction. A 50 yd range is behind...

Mystery "no drill" scope mount Id?

Is it sacrilegious to bubba an early model Winchester 12?

Over 2 million Model 12s were made, and many people have cloned a Trench Gun. If you do it be sure to cut the barrel straight. Some clown at a gun show who tried to sell his Bubba work used a hacksaw to cut the barrel. The cut was crooked, the saw marks were obvious, and he didn't even bother...

I think our gun rights are about to come under heavy attack.

Nothing wrong with being concerned about the actions of violent lawless thugs being used to disarm you (which they are), but the violence is much worse in Chicago, and very few gun owners in Illinois have caved to Pritzker's "assault weapon" (overused term that the anti-2nd clowns use to scare...

    10mm or .45 ACP?

10...again. I'd like to get a 6" 610, or a 6 1/2" Ruger Redhawk. Excellent choice! I have a 4" 610-2 that is used for woods carry and reload testing, but would prefer a 6" barrel. The 610 can handle the really hot stuff. The semi-autos get nothing but neutered factory ammo.

RUGER SINGLE SIX COLORADO CENTENNIAL 22LR/22MAG SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER

Ruger is commemorating the wrong state. They should stick to non-commie states. 😁 I foolishly sold my stainless Single Six convertible 3 years ago to a guy who has yet to shoot it.

What to do when you can't find a holster you like (make one)

Nice job. Is that a pager on the other side? 😁 Nice job on yours as well. Yes Kydex is very easy to work with, and not expensive. Handy stuff. I've used it to replace the old car's pitted console cover because the Kydex texture perfectly matches the dash

Do you carry a handgun in and around the house?

No in-house carry since moving out of thug infested Ill-Annoy, but i do keep 2 handguns and shotgun ready in the house. I regularly carry on the property because of bobcats and whatever else might show up.

    Your 'Rodney Dangerfield' guns.

My butt ugly Hi Point 10mm carbine. I've had zero FTFs, or other issues with it. Too bad the mags are only 10 rounds. Bought the 9mm camo version too but have yet to shoot it.

Wanting something for squirrel control besides a 22 and need opinions.

Nice!! Watching your Maltese catch its prey must be an awesome sight. Last time i dispatched a grey squirrel raiding the bird feeders (used the RWS Model 48 mentioned before) I tossed it out in an open area and within 10 minutes it was gone. I didn't see what took it, but i did see a bald eagle...

No more gun shows for me

I'll attend as many gun shows as possible, primarily to look for reasonably priced S&Ws and accessories. Arriving early is the key, and the last two shows have netted me a pair of 3rd Gen pistols, including a rare Performance Center model. Bought both within 15 minutes of the doors opening...

Are you stocked up for 2024

If people are unaware of what has been going on against gun owners in the last few decades, and haven't stocked up accordingly, well.... I certainly feel sorry for people who are just becoming of age to buy guns and ammo. Anyway...got what I need since I don't hunt as much as I used to. Only...

Wanting something for squirrel control besides a 22 and need opinions.

You should consider the Goodnature A18 Squirrel Trap. They're not cheap, but they work. I've watched the YouTube videos, wow...they work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL1HvJfID-4 I don't have that big of a squirrel problem, so I use a .177 RWS Model 48, but don't have to shoot farther than...

    Looking for recommendations

I have had much success dispatching garden pests, mostly rabbits and squirrels, with a .177 RWS Model 48. It works so well that i looked to buy a 48 or 52 that shoots .22. Like everything else, RWS prices went through the roof so i settled on a .22 Gamo "Swarm Maxxim G2" w. scope...fairly cheap...
