Evergreen,
I just did a similar move last year (CA to SC), although I was fortunate enough to get the move paid for by my employer. My safe went with the movers, but I hauled the guns and other "unique" items across country in a small (18') travel trailer. I slept in the trailer every night...
Did the gun store guy say it was state law? I've seen gun stores put signs up at their indoor ranges because they (or their insurance company) is concerned about airborne lead. I don't believe there is *yet* a law to that effect, it's just store policy.

I added OC spray (Fox labs keychain size) to what I carry after two separate incidents of people getting up close, shouting, trying to start a fight with me, while I was carrying. One guy's dogs attacked mine and I was asking him "why are they out running around in the neighborhood?", and the...
Thanks
A lot of good suggestions, thanks everyone.
I haven't talked to any LEOs because I don't know many, and the ones I do know would think I was nutty/dangerous (did I mention I live in California? A lot of alternative lifestyles are considered acceptable, but gun-nuts are looked at with...
Something I've started doing in the last couple of years is practicing defensive shooting from awkward positions.
(Disclaimer: I shoot alone in a desert canyon with high walls, and always check a sight picture on a new target setup to make sure I don't have a reasonable chance of a round...
So I was thinking sometime soon I'd have the money to buy an M1 Garand. I went to the CMP website to check prices and...
They're out of stock until October.

Is this a regular occurence? Someone tell me not to worry, I haven't missed my...
I have a love-hate relationship with Jericho. I wish it was grittier, like "Deadwood" on HBO, but all things considered it's fairly interesting. It's a little disappointing how reactive the town is. I haven't seen any episode show them doing anything significant to improve their situation or...
That's one advantage of staying on the line with the 911 dispatcher. Otherwise, it's a judgement call who is reallycoming thru the door. If you see red/blue lights outside that might help you know the cavalry has arrived :)
2A is anti-1A ???
Buried in that post I saw a new anti-gun argument... the presence of firearms will chill free speech, thereby interfering with first ammendment rights. :barf:
That's diabolically clever if your goal is to restrict all freedoms.
Did anybody understand why the officer with the rifle wanted to ride on the hood of the squad car? I can see not wanting to be confined inside the car when you roll up on the BG, but being flat on your back doesn't look like a good position from which to start a fight.
Edit to add: Here's...
As I recall, Wilson was credited with saving two lives that day by engaging Arroyo and preventing him from finishing them off. He scored solid hits to the torso but Arroyo was wearing body armor.
Thanks for posting the video. Good work by the police taking him down.
Sheesh, some of the group sizes in rhubarb's list are pretty big!
Good thing I live in a state where they can only have ten rounds per magazine...
I lived in NC when "shall issue" took effect there (around 1995). At first you saw a lot of signs, but gradually they went away as people realized the streets weren't ankle deep in blood. After a while the signs look plain stupid to all but the most rabid anti-gunner.
I'm hoping your...
The video describes the officer as feeling trapped by Foley. Huh? :scrutiny:
I wonder if Foley or his passenger ever tried to call 911 during the incident? That would certainly help their case.
I don't know about San Diego, but Los Angeles and surrounding areas have had a few cases of police impersonators pulling folks over. In one case about two weeks ago, the person being pulled was a detective who got suspicious and started asking questions. The impersonator quickly jumped in his...
PeteRR,
This is slightly off topic, but hopefully helpful to you:
Kern county is a good place to be able to get a CCW permit if you meet the normal qualifications (not a felon, etc). However, you may want to put some thought into where you settle. If you move within the city limits of...
