10mm vs 45 ACP which has more stopping power.

Water Jugs with .40 JHPs; Q4369, Fed. HST, Fed. Hydra-Shok, etc.

I wouldn't worry about failures with the 180 HST based on the performance of the 165 since the 165 bullet is a totally different design. Just look at the length of the "petals" in an unfired bullet. In the 180 HST, the petals extend nearly to the case while the 165 petals extend only about half...

10mm vs 45 ACP which has more stopping power.

Want stopping power? Just hit whatever you are trying to kill with a semi-trailer. Now that's what I call stopping power! Having an argument on which s*****y handgun caliber is best is ridiculous. Hit the BG two or three or four times in the chest and call it a day. Oh and the ".45 makes...

Best bang for the buck deal on .40 S&W pistol?

As far as police trade-ins go, I got a very sweet deal. I bought my second Gen 3 Glock 23 a bit over a week ago for $369 including nights sights and three mags. Turns out it was an unissued gun and was technically brand spanking new! Hope that helps!

    S&W 99 vs Glock 22

I look at it this way: If you start driving a new Jeep, you tend to feel or notice that there are more Jeeps on the road than you've ever realized. (I've driven over 100 different makes and models of cars, and this always, always, always holds true). There isn't actually more Jeeps on the road...

    Me and my XD

FWIW, I bought an XD as my first gun, then an M&P, and now I only carry Glocks. Your suggestion that a "shooter [who] has matured a bit" begins to become interested in other pistols is somewhat insulting. YMMV [I no longer own the XD or M&P.]

    S&W 99 vs Glock 22

The Gen 3 Glock .40 cal handguns are perfectly fine. I own two of them, and I have a few instructors who own and carry them as well. One of those instructors is a Glock armorer, and he can't recommend any better duty/carry handgun than the Glock 22/23. They had issues very early on, but they...

    S&W 99 vs Glock 22

Blanket statements are always cool, especially when it's a subjective topic... How many militaries, special forces and law enforcement agencies are using Walther? How many of them have been torture tested to 100,000 rounds? How many were run over by trucks or soaked in salt water, mud, sand...

    9MM confusion/ penetration/ barriers

Lol, no. You're putting too much stock into numbers. There are far too many variables, and they can't be predicted ahead of time. However, when I see a the results from the testing of 9mm hollow point bullet developed by Winchester in the 80's/90's, and I know what the "goals" of said bullet...

I think Einstein would disagree with you. He never was much of a fan of numbers, preferring imagination to knowledge every step of the way.

    9MM confusion/ penetration/ barriers

Actually, there are no modern 115gr hollow points with the exception being the Barnes TAC-XP all copper bullet. Winchester, Federal nor Speer has updated a 115gr design since the early to mid 90s.

    9MM confusion/ penetration/ barriers

Considering the age of the study and the use of dated bullet technology, I'd consider the results posted above surprising, in that they show a perfectly reliable bullet. Is 13" of penetration and expansion above 0.5" not to be considered reliable, especially when repeated 27 times with similar...

    9MM confusion/ penetration/ barriers

When you said "much more lethal," I expected you to say you have an AR, AK or shotgun, not another crappy handgun caliber. Hell, you can't even expect to stop a person with one shot with a .44 Magnum, let alone the far inferior .357 Magnum and .45 ACP. False. False. And false. The most...
