100 yds (sandbagged)

47 gr IMR 4895

Here's the result after neck turning (20 shots)

Thanks for the replies. I am currently reloading for my M1 garand using 47 gr IMR 4895 with Sierra 168 HPBT. According to the Speer manual that i am using, the OAL should be 3.295 (max is 3.34). Using a Stoney Pt OAL gauge, my M1's OAL is way passed the max of 3.34. Even with a max of 3.34...
I need some guidance. Accuracy is increased if the reload is set to about .020-.040 from the lands. But this setup leaves some deadspace between the powder and the bullet. Going for accuracy, and fit in the magazine/clip is not an issue, is it more accurate to reload closer to the rifle lands...
I trim all of my 30-06 reloads, so what's the best way to mark them to easily identify against the other brass at the range? Marker, paint, what do you guys use? Do you put the mark on the neck, body, or base of the case? Thanks in advanced.
Thanks for the replies. The marks that i have are even numbers so the 100 is also just a line. I will be shooting my reloads (168 Sierra HPBT IMR 4895). We'll see how it goes. Thanks again.

I just switched over to using Winchester 231 reloading 230 gr 45 ACP. According to the Speer Reloading Manual #13, the min/max for 45 TMJ 230 gr for 231 is 5.6 to 6.2. Using the Winchester reloading catalog, the min/max for 45 ACP 230 gr FMJ is 4.9 to 5.7. What gives? Is there really much...
Thanks, loudernhel (hopefully the pics will show up next time around). I did order the S & A but did not get the jig to go with it. I chickened out and returned it to Brownells. Someday.
Thanks, Gunsnrovers. I initially ordered the #203 but the gap was bigger so i switched to the #204. Eventually, i'll put on the S & A when i get enough courage to mess with the frame. Or maybe when i get really bored (I got bored and put Oxpho-Blue creme. The top picture was the result of...
