No real luck with my LC9S

New to 9mm been loading mostly for my SR1911. Just not yet grouping well with the 9. 115 gr lead RN over 4-4.3 gr BE. So far only 115. FMJ. Seems to shoot better but a little hard on the wallet. I'm gonna try Unique before I give up on these bullets. If I gotta shoot FMJ it's gonna cut into my...

    Resize casing after bullet pull?

I just pulled 25 bullets from a bad batch of 30-30. Do I need to resize the casings before reloading them?

Can't tell large pistol from large rifle

Yeah I'm an idiot. Looks like I may have some of both in the same tray. Hate to pitch'em all. Any dimensional differences I can use to differentiate?

Powder measure for lee breechlock single stage

I'm currently using a Lee not exactly perfect powder measure. I found an adapter at Unique Tek that let's me drop powder through the expander die. Is there an RCBS or Hornady powered measure that will let me keep my set up? Or asked another way are the threads standard at the powder drop?

    Sweat and My SR1911

I should have thought about it. I've damaged stainless cases on watches. But during a routine cleaning I found where sweat crept under the grip and left some nasty orange corrosion. It gets hot here in Houston but this is non-workday carry. Anyway I carry IWB at 5 o' clock. I scrubbed it with...

    reloads vs factory

I'm reloading for my 30-30 and I'm new at it. Comparing my reloads to LeverEvolution, they also grouped well but about 5.5 inches low. How significant is that reduction in velocity?

Did I get hosed or not?

I purchased this scale used elsewhere it is an RCBS "precisioneered" there is actually no other indication of a model. The 1 and .1 grains is dialed in by means of a threaded poise. The problem is the SCALE for said poise was detached and bent. Seems like a deal breaker to me. Should I just...

Working up a .45 ACP load

Nothing fancy just trying to get the best shooting Bullseye and a 200 gr LSWC load for my SR1911. I believe the magic number is between 4.5 and 5.0 grains. This may all be academic as I'd say my shooting skills are probably average to poor , but I'll take improvement where I can find it. My...

    Marlin 336 RC

At the tender age of 50, I'm now rediscovering firearms. Last year I bought my first first ever new firearm a Ruger SR1911. I'm now revisiting a Marlin 336 RC. The first gun I ever purchased from my father 30ish years ago. I fired it once when I was 9. I've never taken meat from the hoof to the...

SR 1911 Full detail strip help?

Hoping to do my first 1911 detail strip. I do NOT have any intention of disassembling the MSH. While take down does not look particularly difficult according to my vast study of internet sources, I am concerned about RE-assembly. What noob pit falls await me there?

    SR1911 brass everywhere

The title pretty much says it all. It slings it right, sometimes over my shoulder, other times over my head. I guess I should be thankful it is ejecting, but I'd like to get it consistent enough to feed a homemade brass catcher. The pistol is completely stock, approaching 500-600 rounds. Any ideas?

    I don't know why I can't find it

All I want is a single Lee bullet seating die for .45 ACP. I need two one for 230 gr RN and one for 200 gr SWC. I want to set it up once and move on. I can't buy one new? Even the LRS seemed to have difficulty finding one. Yes I can buy another set and try try to unload the other two, but why...

Setting up for my first reloads

Looking for a good place to start for .45 ACP. I have been reading and and will continue to do so. My current challenge is finding a readily available powder/bullet combo. Based on availability looks like Bullseye is the winner. My initial plan is 5 gr of Bullseye large CCI large primer with a...

    Single stage depriming

Another greenhorn to reloading. I've managed to read many reviews and descriptions but depriming is typically not covered. I realize it's not a highly interesting topic but here are my questions, 1) is it a hand or press operation?and 2) how are the spent primers captured? I will most likely be...

    Accuracy and expectations and thanks

I am a new owner of SR 1911 with right at 200 rounds through it. This is my only hand gun and I have no shooting background/history.The pistol will unquestionably shoot better than my capabilities. A review site, http://gunblast.com/Ruger-SR1911.htm , posted sub 3" groups at 25 yds. Do folks...

    First ever firearm purchase

Today I traded in Taurus .41 mag for a downpayment on an SR1911. I have yet to see an SR1911 let alone hold one but I have made up my mind.I don't yet know what it will cost since it is a special order and they have never handled one. Looking forward to determining what it cost. LOL.
