    S&W M&P 15 .223 Sport Review

I've been keeping an eye out here locally for one. Glad to hear they run pretty well on steel cased ammo. I would mainly use one for plinking and the ability to digest various ammo is a plus. Have a buddy with a dpms and he seems to have problems with steel case running well in his. Not...

    S&W M&P 15 .223 Sport Review

Nice review. Have you tried steel cased ammo in your rifle yet? I am curious how well something like wolf or Tulammo feeds through the M&P sport.

    Anyone familiar with Savage/Stevens 87D?

I just got lucky with the lifter spring. I just figured if nothing else, it could still be used and fired even if the spring didn't help. From what I have read here and other places it seems that these rifles are prone to problems. Kp321, you weren't kidding about the subtle parts changes...

    Anyone familiar with Savage/Stevens 87D?

Put in the new lifter spring last night and took it out today to try out. Fired around 100 22lr and 20 shorts. It fed through the rifle perfectly. Thanks for the link for Numrich! Went ahead and ordered a few other parts to have in case I needed them down the road. My children are excited to try...

    Anyone familiar with Savage/Stevens 87D?

Thanks for the replies and advice. I disassembled the rifle earlier in the week and checked all of the components. I removed the lifter arm and inspected it. Also checked the shims on the lifter arm and checked the screws on the guide assembly and trigger group while I was at it.. I ordered some...

    Anyone familiar with Savage/Stevens 87D?

Tried several different types of rounds. CCi mini mag, Blazer, Federal red box bulk, Federal auto match, etc. Bolt is coming back all the way. Even if I load it up and cycle the first round by pulling the bolt back I can see the bullet come up then dip nose down like there isn't enough tension...

    My Stance

The term boolit is used when talking about a lead cast bullet. Not sure why that is a bad thing. Certainly easier to say than lead cast bullet.:)

    Anyone familiar with Savage/Stevens 87D?

It's a 22 rifle. An older one I believe. It is a semi auto. It uses a small arm/lever to lift the next round up from the tube as the bolt goes rearward. The bolt remains open until the trigger is released then slams forward picking up a new round from the arm/lever (sorry, not sure of the...

    Anyone familiar with Savage/Stevens 87D?

Hi. I have an old Savage Stevens 87D that's been passed down for a couple of generations and made its way to me a few years back. The problem it has is that when the barrel tube is over half full, the cartridges want to nose down when trying to cycle a new round in the chamber. The rifle runs...

    Click clack elimination,Savage Mod 87A

I have a Savage Stevens 87D my father passed down to me. The bolt drop after releasing the trigger had me scratching my head until I figured out it was supposed to do that . The barrel says 22 short, long, or long rifle and closer towards the receiver says "only long rifle as automatic".

    Where to find .380 brass

You might try the classified section. I've made a few purchases here and had great luck finding some things I couldn't scrounge locally.

    Mastercast bullets

I placed an order with Mike (Carbondale, IL) about a month ago. He called me a few days later, gave me a total for the order, got my info, and said it would ship the next week. I haven't received my order yet either, nor have I been charged. I emailed him a few days ago. No reply yet.

    A thanks and a question

Yes, I seem to get more data from the Lyman Cast reloading book than the Speer manual. I haven't had a chance to get the Lyman #49 yet, but it seems to get a lot of praise here.

I will give that a try. i would have replied sooner, but I have been setting up the press and accessories. I appreciate the guidance and suggestions. Now that I have all of the equipment together, I can make sense of some of the things I've read up on but was a bit confused about.

Thanks for the reply 243winxb. I was thinking that this would be ok, but in reading up on the subject, I may have missed it. I still have a lot to learn and thought it best to ask if I was unsure.

First of all, I would like to say that this site and its members have been an invaluable source of information regarding the hobby of reloading. Over the last few months, I've read several threads and posts here. It sparked my interest in reloading and prompted me to buy The ABCs of Reloading...
