I recently put back together a Mossberg 500C, 20ga. While lubing it I noticed that the firing pin has no return spring. Is this normal on a late model 500C? I contacted the seller of the replacement bolt and he said this was normal on 20 ga. bolts. Anyone know for sure?

Regarding old-style and new-style forend assemblies...When I see pics of the older model 37s, the forend assembly seems to have a metal "ring" at the rear toward the receiver. The wood forend slips into this ring. The newer assemblies, from what I can see, do not have this retaining ring...
