    Shooting 30-06 tracers and AP

woodsoup wrote: Tracers don't ignite until they are 25-50 yards down range. I read that some ignited 100 yds. down range and were intended for machine guns, and if true, I was wondering how to tell the difference.

    Shooting 30-06 tracers and AP

    1) I purchased some 30-06 M25 tracers made in St. Louis during the 60s-70s and described as " boxer primed and non-corrosive". To me, it describes the primer, not the tracer compound. Can the tracer compound be corrosive or harmful in any way even if they ALWAYS ignite at some point beyond...

    Recommendations for 30-06 semi auto

I realize that it's an alloy designation like 7075 or something but to me "aircraft alloy" meant aluminium alloy and I was wondering if everyone else felt that way too. Fish; I'm not trying to knock you gun; I found the following but didn't make short cuts to them all...

Slamfire1: Does the definition of "machine gun" mean a fully automatic weapon designed for and issued by the military; or does it mean ANY weapon, sporter or otherwise, that is converted FROM SEMI-AUTO to full auto? Does the BATF look upon both condtions with equal "distain"? Fishbed77...

    Recommendations for 30-06 semi auto

Why? Looks? Reliability? Durability? Price? As I understand it, full-auto is no longer an option unless I want to spend some time in the pokey. Do they sell re-worked military BARS that are converted to semi-auto? I'm sure the guy in the gun store years ago called it a BAR and told me it...

    Recommendations for 30-06 semi auto

For various reasons, I stopped hand loading in the ‘80s when there were four basic powders: IMR, WW, Hercules and Hodgdon (plus Alcan if you want to “go foreign” :D). To properly place me in gun and hand loading history, I can relate to 12 ga. with 17 or 18 grs. of 700x and 7/8 to 1 oz. of lead...

Cost to convert Garand to full auto

It it a reasonable thing to do or is there something illogical about it beside money? Not counting the gun, how expensive is the licensing and gunsmithing?

So slam fires are least likely, or won't occur, on rounds that were f/l resized with small base dies? In other words, SB dies size "on the safe side" and prevent or minimize the possibility of slam fires? Would this apply to commercial as well as military guns as well?

    Recommendations for 30-06 semi auto

Do you have any "trustworthy" places to buy one? Are there "good and bad numbers" like the O3A3 or different, more/less desirable "models"? Can you suggest a good internet source? Where are they most available: gun shows? I can't say I've seen them in gun shops but I haven't looked...

In what years did the 94's have "bad times"?

    Recommendations for 30-06 semi auto

I'd like to buy an '06 semi-uto but am concerned about several things: 1) reliability 2) the necessity of full length resizing cases when handloading. Is this true for all rifle brands or just problematic to specific brands? 3) I understand that some rifles tear the rims off the brass...
