    Crisbow Crossbow (pic heavy)

Hi Garth, We only talked about the crossbows in general. All his crossbows had wooden stocks and later he sold the company off and emigrated due to politics. He was quite surprised when I showed him the plastic stocks....

    Crisbow Crossbow (pic heavy)

Maybe worth to mention, I met the guy who build the first series of Crisbow crossbows. He is now living overseas but slept over in a guesthouse a few years ago near me. I have a gunshop and he visited me for a chat & coffee.

    Crisbow Crossbow (pic heavy)

I also found a wooden stock(Imbuia wood) and recurve prod in a pawnshop in Bloem a few years ago. Made a new string and its shooting quite nicely now. I also have a Quattro still in its box, the camo model. The fletches on the arrows are buggered of course but otherwise in pristine condition. I...

CVA Prospector found his final home

I milled around 1/8" from the bottom of the rearsight off and its the lowest I can get it. Now for the next test during the week to see if I can now actually get nearer to the bull. I looked carefully at the info stamped on the bottom of the barrel, its clearly stamped with a "AH" which dates it...

CVA Prospector found his final home

A little range report shot the pistol yesterday afternoon with 25gr 3F powder(volume), a .433" ball and thin cloth patch. Between 12-16" high at 20yards!!!! Guess its a long range weapon:-) Luckily there is around 1/8" left on the rear-sight that I can machine off the rear-sight to lower the...

CVA Prospector found his final home

Nope, mine is definately a .44cal. I measured the roundballs at .433" and they fit tight with a thin patch. I have some .44cal bullets from an old project gun and they must be tapped lightly to start in the barrels rifling.

CVA Prospector found his final home

CVA Prospector found his final home

Nope, no paperwork needed luckily as muzzle-loaders are exempted from licenses as long as they are single-shots. About Zuma, same case as Zimbabwe's Mugabe. Doesn't want to step down but is willing to bring the whole country to its knees....

CVA Prospector found his final home

I found a San Marco .44cal single shot pistol on a local guns-for-sale website in South Africa. Its also known as the CVA Prospector with the Western engravings on both sides. I do know that its the Italian version of the well known Tingle pistol but also that it held its own against other...

Advice on removing bullet brass from barrel?

The rifle is sorted out, thanks everyone for the advice given so freely. I oiled the crown side for just in case, turned a 3/4" brass plug that fits tightly in the bore. Tapped it from the bolt side and keep tapping it with a nylon covered steel-rod. The first jacket sort of collapsed and...

Advice on removing bullet brass from barrel?

Thanks a lot, I think thats a brilliant idea. I'll try your advice tomorrow , but think I'll slightly oil the barrel and then mix up some epoxy to form a plug.

Advice on removing bullet brass from barrel?

You cant drive 2 bullets out at the same time, same principle as with pelletguns as the first bullet will cause the second to expand. Sorry for my bad explanation but English is my 3rd language. My plan is to get the two copper thingies out separately, dont think they will come out together. I'm...

Advice on removing bullet brass from barrel?

A friend tried to develop subsonic loads in his .303Brit using a small load of pistol powder and a .32 auto bullet. It seems he used not enough powder and the bullet stopped 6 inches from the muzzle. He then took a second shot and the bullet stopped behind the first.... Now the rifle comes to...

    Fabarm choke tubes

I contacted Fabarm but their response was the choke tubes will only fit on their guns. Guess I will have to pay a decent gunsmith a visit and discuss the whole idea first. Sounds like the idea could get costly. Thank you in any case for the advice but all will depend on what tubes I can find...

    Fabarm choke tubes

I have a singleshot H&R with a extra long barrel. I want to cut the barrel a little shorter, I'm thinking around 26inches but it means I'll lose my choke. Our local dealer only keep Fabarm choke tubes, meaning a round trip of 500km(310miles). Does anybody know what the thread-sizes on Fabarm...

    Help with BP rifle accuracy

You have received a lot of helpful tips, but if I could suggest something simple. Change only thing at a time and you will then notice where the fault was. We tend to follow advice and make all the changes and suddenly all is well but where/what was the problem. A little advice from my...

    Lyman plains pistol

I wish I could get one of those "snake-eye" pistols with the 2 barrels, been a wish for many years but they are as scarce as a hen's tooth in South Africa:cuss:
