Thanks
Thank you all. I failed again to convince my brother to give up on the GAP. However, I was able to shoot successfully all the loads I made up for him in my S&W 625 JM without any difficulty. The GAP cases seated in the Moon clips that I have so that was a success.
My loads of the...
Hello everyone. My brother is set on running a Glock GAP pistol and I have tried several loads for him in the past two years. Currently the load I have been giving him is listed here:
Brass New Starline GAP
Bullet Hornady 185gr XTP HP
Powder W231 5.4gr
Primer CCI SPP
OAL: 1.060
Runs...
9mm because its my everyday shooter
45 ACP because it is what I shoot the most of after 9mm
.44 MAG is a super versatile round loaded light to heavy
HMMMMM after that its a toss up between
45 Colt or .357
YUP a squib load could be as bad or possibly worse. As someone who has shot a hand loaded squib load, I am supper careful with checking powder. Yes, for that run of bullets use the impact bullet unloader and rest easy my friend. Its not worth the sleeplessness. BTW, the squib load in the S&W...
RC, I have read so many of your comments in the past and know your expertise. So no questions there. Just to clarify, my brother loaded up some 200gr LSWC in the G.A.P. case with Universal powder 5.0 or 5.2gr. The bullets were Missouri Bullet product that I have used before a 1911 and the...
Great topic. I've offen said to myself that the .44 mag is the most versitile cartridge that I have hand loaded for until I started doing a lot more carrying and hand loading for the .357. Now for me in my world of day hikes and city living the S&W 686+ with seven rounds in a 3 inch barrel has...
OK Folks just a quick question. Been loading and shooting the S&W 625 for a couple of years now with no complaints and lots of good times. Its kinda been my no picky eater of all of the .45 ACP ammo testing hand-loads that did not like my 1911's or my Glock 21. The S&W 625 JM just eats them...
My brother just picked up a new Glock 37 ugggg. He asked me to help him handload this new to me case. So I have been looking for a 200gr FMJ bullet. Usually I get my jacketed bullets from Precion Delta or Montana Gold. No luck either place now for the 200s.
Any suggestions? In the mean...
Yes Don is of course right. However, i could not do the shooting I do if I did not handload.
Be patient and buy supplies whenever prices normalize.
Good luck and read as much as you can here.

Thanks. Went out today and got the girl dirty. We both liked it. Very accurate. In my hands hit steel plates out past couple hundred yards up to 50% of the time mostly 2 out of 6 hit the steel. Great shooter.
This is a S&W 629-1 made in the mid 80's. Yes 8 3/8 barrel.

Just picked up this beauty here in California. Not cheap but worth it. I am enjoying it bunches.
You can notice that I am not a camera man but a Metal Tiger Shootist.
For a moderate load 10 gr of unique is nice with the 240 gr lead SWC
My fav light load is 7 gr of Trail Boss over the Keith 240 gr SWC super sweet shooting.
Fantastic Lt Dan. You will love it. Have loaded so many different calibers in the 550B and that is where it shines. For Huge volume loading of one caliber possibly there are better options but for 2 to 3 thousand rounds a month in 5 calibers the 550B rocks.
Just bought a bunch of stuff:
LSWC 240gr Keith $46.50 From Missouri Bullet
Starline brass 500 b $95.00 From Missouri Bullet
CCI Primer 300 (1000) $27.99 Graf & Sons
Unique powder 1lb $16.99 Graf & Sons (7000gr / 10gr = 700 rounds)...
