Is the old chief's special close enough in size to fit in a kydex pocket holster designed for a j frame? Specifically a 642/442. I Googled up and couldn't find anything helpful. Thanks!

Yes, despite what I read online I opted for the Size 3 and I do wish I had trusted in the reviews and gotten the 4. If it had a spurless hammer it might fit better but I do think a #4 is in my future.

sorry to hear that, I love mine. eats steel cased, federal, critical defense, anything I put in it. and real accurate for a subcompact. my only complaint is that it's just too big for pocket carry, I'm trying to find someone to trade me a j frame or lcr for mine

Thanks a lot for your input everyone - this is why I love this place. Based on the information here, and additional research, I've decided I'm going to go with the CZ 527 Varmint. For a scope it will likely end up being either a Monarch, or a Weaver T36
