Has anyone had any more luck with this endeavor....
Other than my 88 grain groundhog gitter over a case full of Unique and a few runs with green dot I've let this go... That lil screaming HP will open up a groundhog like a champ though...
He was and has been very adamant that selling the carbine was not an option...PERIOD! With that in mind he decided that it was better to adapt it to his use that have it be a dust gathering club. His view was that it came to him from the family and it was going to stay in the family.. Why not...
So , I just got a few pics from the carbine's owner...
I asked for one of the butt to show the repair/refinish
He also verified it is dated 1916
After having him review this thread and others, his reply to me was essentially this.... "He wasn't worried about the collector value of the...
OR....
As some people get older their eyesight tends to "not be what it used to be"...
For some it is not an option to use iron sights at distance... I have never had to do it (yet) but I hear using irons with Bi-focals is a bitch...
IIRC = If I Remember Correctly...
I am pretty sure it was made in 1916... I'll ask him this evening...
I believe it said Carl Gustav on the receiver as well...
Hopefully he can send me some pics of the stock "fixin" too...
I'd love to post them and "stir the pot" a bit more...
I am not sure about the serial # range, but the receiver was dated 1916 IIRC.
I realize as much as most here that altering a somewhat rare surplus carbine can get the purists riled up... I expected as much honestly... I was hoping those with actual experience shooting the M94 would chime in...
Since the brass plate had been removed(whereabouts unknown), the disk recess as well as the sling recess filled in with wood.... and all the wood redone... would this not severely devalue the rifle...??? FWIW it had already had this work done to it when he acquired it...
A few weeks ago a friend of mine asked me if I could do something about scoping his M94 Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55. He had a scout mount that replaced the rear sight, but was not happy with that. I told him to lemme pick it up and I would see what I could do.... After cleaning it up a bit and...
I really should have kept records back then... Sadly when I started, my press was attached to a pine board, which was then attached to the kitchen table with C-clamps. I had no dedicated loading area. Everything I had for loading could fit in a 5 gallon bucket when I started. I didn't really...
I have seen acceptable top end loads for 115gr FMJs using Unique, I believe, as high as 6.2 ... I have had good luck using 5.9-6.0 gr of Unique for years now. Very easy to see the charge, impossible to double charge, and with Unique I have a powder that I can use for every caliber I load...
Is there a difference in the seating depth when going from Round Nose to Flat Point in 9mm
I grabbed a box of flat points last week and realized it last night as I finished up a box of plated RN 115 grainers.
I vaguely recall loading some flat points years ago but I just don't remember if...
I spoke to ML last Friday and all is well with him and his family. I also spoke to a mutual friend Saturday night who spent all day Saturday with him, who says the same..
Sometimes it takes drastic events to make us think and act...
Hopefully this can be a learning experience for us all...
How about a slight update...
I spoke with ML last night. He assured me he would be contacting the local Sheriffs Office upon the end of our phone call. He has taken this as a learning experience, as have I and will be making home/life adjustments as he sees necessary.
This can be a good...
I've known ML personally for a while now, have been to his home several times, and have spoken to him and his wife about this about this repeatedly over the last few days. FWIW I can say without a doubt this is not BS..
It does show how sometimes you can be caught off guard and unprepared...
ML.... get the local county mounties involved ASAP... This needs to be documented and they can possibly BOLO for this guys car and maybe start a short "investigation"
If you need/want help doing a few security upgrades to your place let "us" know, ok.... it is not difficult, especially with...

With what they had to work with they did a piss poor job...
Sure they put sand bags in front of the "car barricades"... one bag thick... that might stop a 5.56 at distance, but a .308 or better... VERY doubtful...
