Are you shaking the round primer holder so they all flip over before putting the plastic lid on? All primers would be in the same direction, anvil side up.
ok, I put up to 800 yards because that is the view range at one blind. I don't think he will shoot that far. Maybe 400 yards, half way across the cotton field... I'm really not sure how far he can shoot.
My bil is shooting Hornady 7mm Rem Mag 139 gr interlock American Whitetail ammo. He stated a small hole goes in and a small hole out. I think he's used to a 30.06 leaving a big hole out. He wants a bigger hole out. I'm thinking he should go up to about 160gr bullet. Deer are mostly shot around...
I'm looking at picking up one of these. Read a bunch of reviews and most like it but several can not seam to get the drops correct. Any thoughts and what powders is it dropping for you.
Powders I currently use.
H4350
Varget
Imr 3031
Imr 4350
Imr 4831
Thanks Clint.
I had looked and the die was clean. Nothing stuck up in there. Noticed how the 87 grain SST was thinner at the tip then the 95 grain SST I have loaded previously. Which was allowing the tip to push higher into the stem. Also if the bullet was slightly leaning when going into...
I'm loading up some Hornady V-MAX .243 87 grain bullets. Using a Lee 243 WSSM seating die. The plastic tip is pulling off and remaining in the die. I've used this die with other ballistic tips but not these 87 grain V-MAX's. Any idea on how to resolve this? Loading on a Lee classic turret.
You might check this very long thread. Flintknapper uses a 458 for hog hunting and has some info in there.

Remington 700 in 30.06.
My son got his first deer with the same gun last year. It is now his gun. If for some reason he ever needs to get rid of it the deal we made would be for him to let me know first.
The load I posted above is with a Winchester large rifle primer.
I'm not trying to tell you to use an unpublished load.
More to the point is I think your 11 year old will be just fine shooting a non reduced load.
Good luck to you and your son this hunting season.
My son got his first deer last year at 11 years old. He is a normal sized skinnyish kid and has been shooting the 243 just fine. He also shoots his youth 20 ga nicely.
The best load so far for me with the 243 and Sierra 85 grain hpbt.
41.2 grains of H4350, 85gn hpbt at 2.62"
Data is from this...
I've adjusted my dies for other rifles for minimal headspace. I just picked up a new Tikka T3 Hunter in .270. Only have 8 shots through it.
When using the spent case the bolt feels so smooth I'm not sure if I'm feeling it close on the case. I had the firing pin removed when trying to feel...
I have a Simmons Whitetail scope on a Remington 700. The base is a Leupold 1 piece. I can't slide the scope back far enough for proper eye relief. Any suggestions on a new base?
I use IMR 3031 for my AR-15. Mostly because I found an 8# jug in stock. It did shoot better then the Benchmark I've tried.
Sierra 53 grain hollow point on top of 23.5 grains of IMR 3031. 4 shots at 50 yards was .5".
Probably not the best for long range varmints but mine is a plain Jane ar-15.
Local Cabelas had 8# Varget for $209 and 8# IMR-4350/3031 for $199.
I was very tempted on the Varget but decided to wait. Had the most 1# bottles of various powered I've seen there in a long while. ie, more then 2 types of 1# powder.
