I'm looking at picking up one of these. Read a bunch of reviews and most like it but several can not seam to get the drops correct. Any thoughts and what powders is it dropping for you.

Powders I currently use.

Varget

The LNL is basically the same as the RCBS. I have a Lee and 2 RCBS. You get a small amount of variance with any of them with the extruded powders. It's not enough to make any real difference. If you want a precision charge you need to use a trickler.
A powder baffle and a micro adjuster helps a lot but you typically will get a .1 +or- variance.

I quit using 4198 powder because I would crush a neck on my brass occasionally if I didn't watch, trying to cut its large stick granules in my LNL dispenser while throwing a charge. I've had no other problems with any other powder and it throws remarkably consistent charges even at large volume magnum rifle amounts.

I was talking about the dispenser that came with my LNL progressive press. Same dispensers just different means of activating it.

We're talking about a completely different Hornady product...they aren't the same.

You're talking about the powder measure that comes with the LNL AP. This thread is about the Hornady Auto Charge Powder Dispenser

I had the biggest problem with Varget which I load more than any other powder. I would get overthrows every third charge or so. Check out the Hornady website for how to adjust the trickle charge speed. That GREATLY reduces the overthrows and gives you tighter charge variances. It takes some playing with, but my autocharge is awesome now. I'm getting a second one soon.

Look under downloads and check out the PDF. I would recommend Hornady. The only problem I have is the buttons have worn out but Hornady offered to fix it for me and I'm sending it back tomorrow.

So your talking about the manual powder measure that is case activated. The powered powder measure is the Hornady Auto Charge.

I have both but the Auto Charge and the case activated measure that came on my AP. I will not run stick powder for rifle shells through the case activated measure that came with my LNL-AP.

Some do but it crunches the stick powders up into rubble and is hard to operate. I use the powered Auto Charge for that.

FMJBT has pictures of other brands of powered powder measures for sale.

You can run stick powders through the manual powder measures but like I said, it's not fun.
