I bought a couple snap caps to cycle the win 94 project gun. When I cock the lever back and lift the bullet will start to chamber to where the slug enteres the barrel aboit 1/2" and stops. What I have to do is pull the lever down and pull it up again and the bullet slides right in. Sort of like...
When we were alot younger and dumber we left alot of trash behind. Use to love to shoot anything that would shatter. Last few times we went to the desert I jist stop and buy a few ten pound blocks of ice to shoot. Great to watch it shatter and when your done all you leave behind is a wet spot. Jim
I just left homestead firearms with all the parts to get it back together except a new stock set. Had Jaqualine look it over and she said from what she saw it was definetly worth putting back together
I was getting ready to order the replacement parts from homestead firearms. I fill out the order from and see that they charge sales tax on online sales..... Turns out they are local!!! So monday afternoon, Im heading over there with the rifle and get a expert opinion weather its even worth...
Of the guns ive sold, it was mainly for a quick flip. If the price is cheap enough ill buy it to sell the next day. Ive got a few guns that are my personal keepers but the others I consider trading/selling commododies. A buddy of mine told me never fall in love with the items your selling, its...
I posted pictures of my latest purchase. A 1915 win 94 that had a broken tang, missing magazine tube, and related parts. cracked stock and missing locking block. I was told it would probably be a better candidate as a parts gun. But being stubborn I bought the locking block, and had the tang...
I had the thing done this afternoon. $20 and it was tig welded. The rifle is a 26" octagonal barreled winchester 94. I looked up the serial number and its made in 1915.
Anyone know where I can order a front band? or is it called the magazine retainer? it fits in the dovetail under the barrel...
Nevermind. I took the gun to a smith to have the tang fixed, when he removed the brass bolt that was in it to hold it together, we noticed the threads are fine, it was the brass bolt that was stripped. jim
Im getting my upper tang welded and while im at it I thought I may as well get the stripped hole in the lower tand filled so I can drill and tap it. The hole is for the bolt that goes from the upper tang through the stock into the lower tang. I dont have the right screw yet so I dont know what...
just got ahold of a gunsmith, $20 to have it migs while I wait! So after work tomorrow, I'll have it welded. The locking block came in this afternoon and thats installed. Just have to find a front band for a octogon barrel and a magazine tube. jim
Going to take my win94 to a shop soon to see about getting the broke tang rewelded. It the broke right behind the hammer so broke noth sides. Any idea about how much a repair like tbis would cost? I dont want to walk into a shop with a blank check. Just a ball park. Thanks jim
When I get back in town I'll take a picture of the tang without the stock. It looks like a clean break. When I put the broken part up to the main body it looks to be straight.?
I understand about being upside down in a restoration. My plan isnt so much a restoration, more like replace the missing parts and fix the tang. If I can do this for less than $200 Im sure Ill do fine. They sell broken no name top break pistols at the local flea market for $75-100 for wall...
Thanks for all the information on the rifle. I think I see what you mean on the lifter and its already there. Im going to look for a tube and related parts next. Then Ill go talk to the gunsmith to see who they recommend to have it professionally welded. If im going to be into it for a few...
I know what you mean about value vs amount invested. I found the locking block in ebay for 26 bucks shipped. If I can figure out what length magazine tube to buy, it looks like everything used should run about 60-75 bucks. The worst part of course is welding the tang. I pulled the stock and the...
Sorry I think its called the lifter. Heres the ebay link to what I thought I needed. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Winchester-Model-94-post-64-30-30-Locking-Bolt-and-Lifter-/370902616935?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item565b84cb67
Im not sure if the lifter is still in the gun. Unfortunately Ive only had...
