    380ACP die question...

I recently started loading 380 with a set of Lee carbide dies. The three die set included 380 expander and bullet seating dies, but a 9mm sizing die. I thought this odd, but tried a few...they chamber and fire fine, but they're a bit too wide (diameter) and hang up in the magazines for a...

    OAL question

Hey all..I'm a first time loader working up some 9mm. I've created a couple dummy rounds to test..they headspace perfectly and cycle fine. I'm using 147gr plated round nose bullets, but my manual (Lyman) lists flat nose lead, and FMJ loads. The FMJ load lists OAL at 1.115", while the flat...

RAMI (or other small 9) or j-frame?

Looking at picking up a subcompact for a more comfortable carry piece and am debating a subcompact auto or j-frame. Opinions? I like the reliability and 'solid' construction of the wheelgun, but it's hard to pass up the amount of firepower the new little auto's have. I'm kinda leaning...

    Buckmark magazine safety

Has anyone disconnected the mag safety on a buckmark? I wasn't aware they had them until I purchased one. They have a great trigger, I'd just rather the gun worked all the time. I'll probably never do it, but I'm curious just the same.

    Front sight fix

I had a new King's front sight staked into my Norinco 1911 about 4 months ago, and I noticed while dry firing today that's it's just barely loose, but I can tell it moves. Is this OK? If not, am I better off having it soldered or just bite the bullet and get the slide dovetailed? I really...

    Buckmark Hunter Review

Took my new Buckmark Hunter (7.25" bbl, fiber optic sight) to the range this morning for the first time. I brought a sampling of .22 ammo to see what it liked. It ran great with all but the Federal Champion, which had a few FTFs. Other than that it ran without a hitch the entire session. It...

    Buckmark hunter price check

I just went to Bass Pro to check out their prices on .22 autos, Buckmarks specifically, and found a Hunter model (7.25" bbl, fiber optic front sight, weaver rail) for $300. Is this fair, or a pretty good deal? I would think with all those features it'd be much more expensive. They had a BKMK...

The perils of disassembling a 1911

I was just replacing the sear spring in my 1911, and was in the process of putting the safety back in when I slipped and sent the plungers and spring across the room. GRRRR :fire: :banghead: . I've been looking for 15 minutes to find the @!#$ thing, but no luck. Next time, I'll point it where...

So I priced out some .22s....

So, I'm in the market for a good .22 for practice. The intention is to get something with similar feel to a 1911 so the practice will carry over better. Anyhow, what are your thoughts on these guns and prices: 1 - Ruger 22/45 MKII, New, Stainless tapered barrel about 4", fixed sights. They...

1911 Conversion, or just buy a rimfire?

So, I've been thinking about getting a .22 conversion (mavel, advantage arms) for my 1911 for cheaper practice, but in the same price range, I could also just get a new or slightly used ruger 22/45, S&W rimfire, etc. What do you think? I'd get the same grip, trigger, etc with a conversion...

    Remington Model 8/81 problem

I've taken apart a Remington Model 81 and made the mistake of taking out the screws in the receiver. Now they're all in except the middle screw on the left side (behind the safety pivot). It now goes in so that the bottom of the screw is flush with the side of the receiver, but will go no...

    1911 gunsmith in GA?

Anybody know a good gunsmith in GA to massage a 1911 trigger? I'm looking to get a trigger job on a Norc, but don't want to lose the gun for long. I've considered the C&S drop in trigger components, but a true gunsmith trigger job would probably be cheaper and smoother from what I've read.

    Remington model 81 info

I've got a friend who has recently inherited his dad's Remington 81 in 300 Savage. We took it out shooting today and put 60 rounds through it. It shot fine, but had a tendency to jam (mostly failures to eject), especially towards the end of the session. I think it really needs to be stripped...

Norinco 1911 Range Report and Question

Well, I had a big review typed up, then my internet connection did something funny and I lost it all. I'm gonna give a try again. I got to shoot my new (to me) Norinco 1911 alongside my CZ-52 yesterday. I only got to put 100 rounds through it, but it had no FTFs that weren't mag related...

    Why the interest in guns?

Hi all, I've been a lurker for months and months, and enjoy reading your threads here, and thought maybe I can contribute some. So, getting back on subject, I have a family member who is a psychologist. She knows of my interest in guns and love of shooting and asked 'why do you like guns so...
