I got to shoot Elmer Keith's carry gun

I did fire a couple rounds DA. I'm not a revolver connoisseur, but the DA trigger felt exceptional to me. And yeah, I realized afterwards that I was using an autoloader grip on it, which was not conducive to proper recoil control.

I think the market here in the US will depend a lot on what price point you plan to sell the new ones at...

I got to shoot Elmer Keith's carry gun

I really, truly hope that its new owner actually shoots it, rather than relegating it to a case or a safe forever.

I got to shoot Elmer Keith's carry gun

Not to brag too much...but it was pretty awesome. The gun is going up for sale at the Julia auction house and I was there making videos on a variety of guns they have, and mentioned offhandedly that Keith's carry pistol really deserves to be shot. So an email to the Keith family, and a...

    Non-revolver Mechanical Repeating Pistols

Most of them are basically lever action, with the lever in the form of a moving trigger guard. The most common pistol like this is the Volcanic. We call them mechanical repeaters because they fed from a magazine or clip, but did not have any mechanism to use recoil or gas energy to do so.

    Non-revolver Mechanical Repeating Pistols

There were a whole bunch of different manual repeating pistol designs around the 1880s, and I too would love to have a modern reproduction of almost any of them. Making them in something like .32ACP would probably be the most practical way to go about the ammo issue. The actions should all be...

    Inexpensive, low-maintenance, southpaw-friendly?

I'd say an AK. Cheap (and cheap ammo), very lefty-friendly, minimal maintenance needed...everything you list. That said, I'm also a lefty and I've shot an awful lot of different guns and found almost none of them to really present any problem for the left-handed shooter. The only thing I...

    Ineffective .30 Carbines in Korea?

Claiming an ineffective round sounds a lot better than admitting that you missed the guy. I'm sure there were some folks who fought through hits, as Vern says, but I suspect the majority of Korean War stories are actually the result of insufficient marksmanship rather than any problem with the...

    M1 Garand or G43

I also agree with Vern. The G43 is a great collection piece, but for a shooter I would definitely take the M1 instead. Not that you can't shoot a G43, but if it were mine there would always be a little voice in the back of head wondering if the next shot would be the one to break something. I...

    Unknown shotgun box mags

I got a handful of shotgun box magazines in a batch of stuff, and I have been unable to figure out the identity of a couple of them. Does anyone know what these are for? They appear to have the same floorplates and followers, but the locking tabs are in different positions, and the long one has...

2-Gun Action Match with a Remington Model 8 (video)

Yes - factory rebarreled by Remington after the Model 81 was introduced in .300 Savage. That was an option Remington had available for Model 8 owners who wanted the hot new cartridge.

2-Gun Action Match with a Remington Model 8 (video)

For this month's 2-gun action match, I decided to use a Remington Model 8 in .300 Savage. Kicks like a mule, but fun to shoot! Overall I placed 34th of 50, which is not bad at all considering my horrendous reload speeds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVHLTq9JTPM

Yep, Type 73. It's a variation on the PKM.

"Radically Invasive Projectiles" (RIP) -- good or bad idea?

Terrible idea. Gimmicky product, inferior to actual quality ammo, and facepalm marketing.

    looking for input.

The K31 will shoot at 500 yards fine with the iron sights - I've done it with mine. I would definitely get that rather than put a modern scope on an M41B. Besides just awesome, the K31 will hold its value, while a modern scope on the M41B will be worth nothing. Now if the choices were K31 or...
