What clever little things have you "invented or discovered" that you can share?

Check if the Lite has the programming feature by following the instructions I posted. I am unsure but I think the guts of most these scale models is the same,

What clever little things have you "invented or discovered" that you can share?

Being across the pond I could not tell you where to buy but the friction fit is sufficient to keep the straw in place. I used metal to avoid static, probably not an issue but why risk it.

Due to resume reloading 9mm and .357 soon, will make up another straw for the purpose. What size drill did you use?

Well that was unpleasant; Ruger #1 chambered in .375 H&H Ackley Improved.

I bought a near new Sako .375H&H, these are rather light weight rifles. When I got the rifle it simply could not shoot, 5" groups were the order of the day. To cut a long story short what followed was range time to see if the problem was me or the rifle, every Saturday for about 5 or 6 weekends...

What clever little things have you "invented or discovered" that you can share?

RCBS Chargemaster 1500 accuracy. I could never get my Chargemaster to throw accurate loads consistently. It was so bad that I packed her back in the box and reverted back to my RCBS beam scales. I then read about the McDonalds straw conversion which was supposed to help but did not do much for...

    S&W Model 28-2 #22XXXX with a 6" Barrel - shaving lead

Unfortunately, the licensing process takes rather long here. I expect to get the license in about three months after application, I will be applying this week hopefully. There will much time I can spend researching all matters wheel gun but will only have the firearm in my grubby mitts in around...

    S&W Model 28-2 #22XXXX with a 6" Barrel - shaving lead

Indeed, but this discussion has already sent me on a path of learning regarding forcing cones and how during quality issues some manufacturers would increase the diameter of the forcing cone to compensate for other issues. Roughness of forcing cones and some forcing cones not being concentric to...

Thanks, any idea of what the standard angle is? Just for information purposes.

    S&W Model 28-2 #22XXXX with a 6" Barrel - shaving lead

I have inherited this firearm from my Dad. Due to the laws of the land this side of the pond, it has had to stay in dealer stock until licensed into my name. My brother who knows the revolver well warned me that she "spits lead" and that I need to warn shooters to my right. I have been doing...

Gun stories (tall tales) from strangers

So an acquaintance of mine tells of his uncle who is an unbelievable hunter and shot. So one day on a hunting trip, standing with no supports, the uncle takes aim at a Kudu Bull running right to left at circa 400 yards. The first shot rings out and to the uncle's amazement the Kudu Bull does...

    Comments on seating depth test?

tcoz, what is the purpose of the test? If I was to guess, it is to establish if jump has any effect on accuracy? If so then you may have some issues. As you well know any change in seating depth will be met with a change in pressure and consequently speed, if you keep the same charge weight...

What clever little things have you "invented or discovered" that you can share?

Copper cable is normally designated by the square area due to its current carrying capacity, or in the US by the American Wire Gauge awg number rather than by outside diameter. Perhaps the poster would be kind enough to quote the awg of the cable he bought. Sounds like either 5 or 6 awg.

Some Notes on Pressure and Muzzle Velocity

Mmmmm, you are talking about internal ballistics here and discounting the effect that the inertia has on the loaded round when the bullet engages the lands? QuickLoad does the same, save for their caveat of adding a certain quantum of pressure when one is seated on the lands or if one is...

    Help with 'curriculum' development

Good on you for promoting our passion. Always gives me great pleasure to see people giving back. I am a great believer in understanding what I call "first principles" the basic building blocks of any discipline. So if it were me it would be a little while before he touched a press. I would want...

Terminal performance test standards for big game bullets?

We have to make some basic assumptions as Craig has remarked. 1. That we can shoot under stressful conditions. Watch a Lion hunt gone wrong and see just how many large calibre bullets they take before they finally succumb. 2. That its very possible we will not get the perfect shot. Being...

    kudu pictures from africa.

There is a bone structure underneath the horn, which runs the entire length and shape of the horn. The head complete with horns is set aside to rot and for the maggots to have their way. After a while the horn part will simply corkscrew off the boney structure underneath the horn. They will...

A few loads for elk. Which ones would you choose?

100% correct. If I knew that one day I would have a .375 then my 30-06 would have been a .308

A few loads for elk. Which ones would you choose?

I use 180gr. Accubonds exclusively in my 30-06 just a little slower than you. I am normally at 2 620fps but seldom shoot out to 400 yards so I like them slower for closer shots. I like them slower and heavier.
